A lot is being said about Dak's gaudy stats last year and it is worth visiting those numbers.

In the five games Dak played in, he threw 4 ints and fumbled 3 times. The numerous Cowboy mistakes made them play catch up all/most of the games. Dak threw a lot of passes against bad or prevent defenses last year. He did not have to face the Commanders front 7 either time. The Cowboys went 2-3 in those games needing a miracle to beat the lowly Falcons.

Yes, Dak put up some huge yards in those games. I like Dak, his skill set and his leadership.

With that said, giving him 40 mil per will put this team squarely where it has been. Average.

If the Cowboys can get a first and a third(or more), you need to avoid cap disaster. Dak needs help to win and if anything 2020 proved that.

Dak had the best QBR 78.7 of his career on a turdfest of a team. That's a really good QBR.

On the darker side, the fumbling wasn't that out of character for him. 9 in 2016, 12 in 2018.

He had a great line? In 2019? Great running back? In 2019? Great receivers? They led the league in drops in 2019.......are we overrating this talent around him?
I don't know about us, but the NFL did. Look at the pro bowl.

And what was the excuse for 2019 when he also put up good stats?

Glad you asked.. I keep this handy when people brag about 2019.

So Dak threw for 30 TD's this season. (2019)

16 of his 30 TD's came against 3 of the worst 5 teams in football.

9 of those TD's came in the first 3 weeks against awful teams. (All drafting top 5)

Against teams with a record of .500 or better he threw 11 TD's.

The other 19 came against the weak teams on our schedule and 13 of those 19 came in the first 3 weeks and week 17 against Washington when he threw 4 against a team that was done.

Dallas was also 2-7 against teams with a .500 record or better.

Dak had 4 games this year with no TD passes including our loss to the Jets...

He also had 11 int's... 3 of them came against the teams below .500.. The other 8 came against the teams with a .500 record or better.

So your argument is that Dak lit up the bad teams? That's what every QB does. Patrick Mahomes two best games of the season last year came against the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets. Russell Wilsons' best games came against Dallas, Patriots and New York Jets...

Browns go up 41-14 can someone tell me where Dak was for the first 3 Q of the game?

Vs Cleveland:
Possession1: Dak sacked on 2nd and 6 as Myles Garrett runs by Steele for an 11 yard sack forcing 3rd and 17 where dallas get 12 yards on a pss to Zeke.
Possession2: Dak 43 yard TD to Lamb to tie it up at 7
Possession3: Dak 20 yard TD to Cooper to take 14-7 lead with 2:10 left in the 1st
Possession4: Dak sacked again by Garrett, fumbles. Cleveland scores takes 21-14 lead
Possession5: Zeke fumbles on the first play after the kick off, Cleveland takes 28-14 lead
Possession6: After getting to Clev's 46 on Dak's passes, Dallas is in 3rd and 15 thanks to Biadasz penalty and doesn't convert, leading to a punt and a 16 play FG drive by Cleveland
HALF
Possession7: After Cleveland scores on a 2nd half opening drive and goes up 38-14, Dak is sacked on 3rd and 8. Punt
Possession8: Dallas drives to Clev 33, and on 4th and 3 the inexplicable play call is a short curl to a well-covered CeeDee Lamb. Fail, leads to Cleveland FG 41-14.

Dak was fine in this game for 3 quarters. The fumble wasn't great, but he was hounded all game and the 4th down play call was atrocious. Zeke had no room, and the one good run he had, he fumbled. The defense, well. We know about the defense.

Agreed!

And that is why I said if all we can do is beat bad teams then I think Andy Dalton can win games at the same rate as Dak.

Then Dak goes down..

And Andy Dalton does what Dak does.

Just like Dak.. He loses the win and in game to go to the Post Season like Dak did in 2019.

Does Dak do things a little prettier then Dalton? Sure.. But in the end they both get you to the same place on similar rosters. I would argue Dalton had it far worse then Dak did this year too. He took over a team in chaos that couldn't block.

What a waste of text.....Another GARBAGE Dak Game 24 points in the 4th Quarter.

he threw 2 interceptions in the last minute of the game, desparation throws. yes he did have two other interceptions on throws that shouldn't have been mande.

Rams had the #1 defense. giants, cleveland were middle of the pack. Atlanta and seattle had bad defenses.

3 of those teams were playoff teams.

the numerous cowboys mistakes, included defense that gave up a 300 yard rushing performance to Cleveland, 153 to Rams, 113 to Atlanta, 117 to seattle. they couldn't stop anybody. we gave up TD after TD and had a historically bad defense....teams don't play prevent defense usually until 4th quarter. that's a total made up craap by dak detractors not understanding how football works...

and btw, Brady threw a pick 6 against AZ in one game....but they won the game...why? their defense was able to make crucial stops and give the ball back to the offense....

Cowboys offensive group knew this defense sucked, given they practiced against them everyday, thus they understood they have to take risks, play to score a bunch every game and win shoot outs, which is what it always came down to....

no, it wasn't empty yards. it wasn't offenses fault only, this defense was putrid....awful. HISTORICALLY BAD. to lay blame any where else is putting your head in the sand and pretending you don't see anything.

and this team will remain average until they fix the defense. they can have an offensive roster full of probowlers, if this defense can't stop anyone, which they didn't when they played against legit competition, then we will remain average.

2020 actually proved how much this team needs Dak. first 5 games, vs. the last 11 games.....we could barely muster enough to beat 3 teams with 4 wins and their back up QBs playing.....the only reason we won those games. against starting QBs we got our arses handed to us, blown out routiney and not having the ability to make any type of comeback....

Yeah but you do know that Dak's first few gams were against the Seahawks, Browns and Rams.....as opposed to the trash Dalton faced?
