Disagree that Wilson makes this team better offensively. Having a Zeke show up & produce makes the offense better. Don't need Wilson for that.

Wilson, by most measures, is a better QB. That being said, even if he doesn't improve the offense even one bit, the massive cap savings you'd get with him as QB compared to Dak make it a win

In 2022 Wilson would have a cap hit of $24 million where Dak's cap hit could be in the high 30 millions.

What's the best offer you'd send to the Seahawks.

I like Dak a lot, but Wilson is a natural born winner. I'd give up the house for him. He can carry this team with a solid oline, Zeke, Cooper, Gallup and Lamb.

Not All That. Let me be clear. I think Russell is a little better than Dak. Dak has beat him 2 of the 3 times they have met (once in the playoffs) and Russell has not won without a Dominant D either. So why would I give up all that. You can have Dak and 3rd Rounder. After that....

Im rolling with our guy.

How about this?

Wilson, a third rounder and maybe 10-14 million in extra cap space each year for the next 3 years?

if I am being honest. I'm not willing to give up any picks for Wilson. My reasoning is, we absolutely would be crippled as far as ways to improve the team defensively. Cannot afford to trade away our resources for a 32 Y.O QB. The only caveat I would MAYBE accept reluctantly is if its crystal clear we cannot sign Dak...so THEN and only then, would I hold my nose and try to make a deal for Wilson. BUT ONLY WILSON. He is special. But circling back, how are we gonna stop people on d? lol...I just don't see how Wilson makes us much better when we cannot stop anyone.Trying to trade for Wilson, IMO...would be the nuclear option. LAST RESORT.

How would that be the case? They are saying Daks 1st year will account for about 17mil against the cap. 2. Russell aint coming to dallas without a raise. 3. Im not 100% sure but Russell is coming into his more expensive years of his contracts as far as cap hits.

The sticking point is 'signing Dak' - has not happened over the last two offseasons - and no indication that an agreement is close at hand.
Curious to why Wilson would list Dallas as a franchise to continue his career.
Perhaps he wants to barter an NFL Championship delivery into obtaining a piece of the Cowboys financial kingdom?
Exactly, he sees endorsements

Wilson’s super bowl win came on the backs of one of the best defenses in NFL history. Not sure he’s an upgrade over Dak.

I would send that, and its probably accurate in what it would take.
Rams sent the house for Stafford, so there is the market,,, yet most would prefer Wilson over Stafford, but your dialed in pretty close.
I want at least something back in a sign and trade for Dak, at least a couple of 2nds a player if we could.
Do that and this team is instantly making the playoffs.

the Rams were trying to get from under a horrible contract for a bum. Would not use it as a reference point.

Twilight? No reason to think you can't get 4-5 great years out of Wilson. And for three of them, you'd be eating up less cap space than you would with Dak which would get you more defensive help in FA.

Now, if the cost were like 3 #1s and a bunch of other stuff, that would make no sense.
So you’re willing to give up all those draft picks for a marginally better QB and be stuck with the worst defense in the league?

Get a better, cheaper QB where you can use the saved dollars in cap space to sign new defenders and keep your better ones under contract?

The cap savings alone would be a HUGE advantage to making a deal, especially if it involved just one #1 pick.
Why on earth would Seattle do that? For all the reasons you have stated of why we should do it is exactly it would be stupid for Seattle to do it without us giving up several picks.

1) If Dak’s cap hit is only 17 million in Year 1 (it won’t be) then that means future cap years will be worse than expected based on what he is rumored to want. So over the next three years the Cowboys would save cap space with Wilson over Dak.

2) Why would be demand a reworked contract?

3) He’s coming into his expensive cap years if he remains on the Seahawks. But if he’s traded the new team only has to take cap hits for base salaries, which are not high and 10 million in roster bonuses total. The Seahawks gave him a massive signing bonus and they’d be on the hook for all those cap hits.

Wilson has 3 years left on his contract at around 23mil/year. 15 mil under market? More? Good contract.

Having said that, a first-round pick is generally over half your draft value. You're proposing giving up about a draft and a half.

Too much even for Wilson, and especially for *us now*. No point in mortgaging the next 3 years for Wilson if we have little on defense and won't have draft value to change that.

I literally said the exact opposite. I said it would make no sense to give up a bunch of first round picks. But if I could get Wilson for Dak and one #1 and some filler? I’d consider it.

They wouldn’t most likely. I am just looking at it from the Cowboys perspective if Seattle did want to move on.

Well that’s too much in my book. #1 picks are too valuable. No idea what “some filler” is or would be.

Yeah, but you would have to give Seattle significant draft capitol. But lets back up. Why would Seattle not want to take advantage themselves of the final 2 cheaper years of his deal? Either they don't think he's good or they want to cash in the chip before having to negotiate his next mega deal. Why would we trade places with them?
