Your odds of hitting on draft picks and free agents doesn't increase with more money.

This is such a great point and why the "let Dak walk and let's build the defense" take is misguided IMO, if not just repeating some often-told, no way proven take similar to "contract year" players. Firstly, how are we going to "just find" some QB in the draft that won't stink so bad we'll be looking again shortly? And second, they talk about solely building the defense as if it's a sure thing it'll be built as needed. If that's the idea, then why hasn't every other team taken that approach, notably the Jets and Jags as you mention who don't have high priced QBs?

I would do a hundred back flips to get Wilson here, but I just don't see why Seattle would take that cap hit, then pay a premium for a lesser quarterback compared to the $32 million they're giving a hall of famer.

EXACTLY. The more money you have the more money you have to waste on guys is the way I look at it. When you have less money you have to be smart about how you spend your money. Less chances of risk IMO.

Because 1) they are going to eventually have to make Russell Wilson the highest paid quarterback in the league. 2) Dak is younger.

This is entirely wrong lol.

A good way to know whether or not anyone pays attention to the entire league is asking how they think the Cowboys draft.
its not entirely wrong...its absolute fact. 15 years. 44 picks. one impact player...unless you consider Crawford impact player?

on the other hand, we have been good offensively, if that's what you are trying to say.

It is wrong because your definition of "impact player" after the first round is way, way off. Go ahead and do this for 31 other teams, and you'll find the exact same thing.

He's 32 years old.
His contract runs through 2023 season, when he'll be 34....hmmm....
If both teams are interested, I'd do it.
And I would still try to draft a top 5 QB prospect in April.
I don’t care about age anymore, Brady just won it at 42? Years old. Russ has a lot left in the tank, enough IMO to have him on the team and not worry about his replacement

As for age, Brady seems like he is meticulous about his health, diet, exercise, rest...etc....
We don't know about Russell. Is he the same way?

So you are saying they (1) should get rid of Wilson because they have to make him the highest paid QB in the league and (2) should pay Dak because he is younger.
And then you want the Cowboys to make exactly that what you think the Seahawks should not do.

I’m not saying they should do anything. But if Russel wants to leave which seems to be the case.....getting Dak and 2 1st round picks doesn’t sound like that bad of a consolation prize.

There is no way to include Dak in a straight up trade with the Seahawks. They can't eat $39 million in dead money for Russell Wilson and have Dak on a $37 million franchise tag (especially with the cap going down this year). The only way to get that deal done is to get a third team to give up draft capital for Dak and those picks could get packaged with Dallas' own picks

A player also wanting to be a part time GM is just not how this league works and Wilson won't be happy anywhere. There's a reason Wilson hasn't listed New England as his trade destination, he knows for a fact that Kraft and Bill wouldn't tolerate this.

This isn't about winning, it's about leverage. Wilson is a great player and one of the best in the league, but there is no way in hell it would work here in Dallas either.

I don't care about round vs. how they play. pure and simple on football field, are they impactful or not.....teams don't cut you a slack because you are a 7th round pick...

and the teams that have been successful, have been able to pick impactful players on both sides of the ball...

Dallas has picked impactful players on offense, such as Dez, Zeke, Dak, Martin, Smith, Collins (UFFA), Fredrick, Gallup, CD....yet only Lawrence on the defensive side... there is clearly a problem evaluating defensive players....

Until that one big hit.
Hey man, one big hit took out Prescott for the year. Idk, I don’t think we should use injury potential as decision maker when it comes to putting talent in this roster. Russ is top 3 in the league, if you can add that to the roster, just do it; worked for TB this year
