Yeah it's a problem.. It's such a stupid move to trade for Dak and then sign him to that deal but going to a bad team is not the right move for the bad team or Dak.

Dak needs to go somewhere like Pittsburgh, New England, or somewhere like that. I just don't think they are stupid enough to give us quality picks for him and then turn around and pay far more money then he is worth.

Those organizations favor defense. Sure they could use Dak but not at his asking price.

No way J-Ville is passing on Trevor Lawrence and his 5 year rookie contract in favor of Dak.
Khan would do ANYTHING to win soon. Dak and Gallup would make them instant above .500. Meyer likes a running QB and Dak would give them that option.

But then I don't think the Steelers would have the cap room to sign Prescott would they?

That's the issue we face if we try to tag and trade him - finding a team that's actually willing to pay him circa $40 million a year.

I have no idea what Pittsburgh's cap looks like but who do they even have on that team making money besides Big Ben? I seriously don't know.

desperate ones like the Jags.Don;t think for a minute that Khan and Urban Meyer wouldn't LOVE to have Dak Prescott be there starter day 1. Makes that team way better. Dallas would then have the number 1 pick. Sounds crazy..but not impossible. Jags have some good players. Why not trade Gallup and Dak to the Jags for picks?
JAX is in the same exact position CIN was last year and they are dependent on keeping their fans happy. Anything but Lawrence or a trade for Mahomes and their fans are in revolt mode.

Unlike the Cowboys, some owners have to consider their fans and Lawrence will sell a hell of a lot more season tickets than Prescott.

Khan committed to a rebuild when he hired Urban Meyer. Urban is going to follow Jimmy Johnson's playbook. He's taking a rookie QB #1 overall and using 2021 to learn the NFL game...........Besides, who want to bring in a 40M Qb whose 9-11 in his last 20 starts and try to sell that to the fans? Oh that's us.

Dak would be a Saint in the South. He's from the region. THEY LOVE HIM. With all these QB's wanting out of town I don't discount anything lol.

if it looks obvious to the Joneses that we can't sign Dak reasonably with the years, I am calling teams and I would start with Jacksonville. Carolina would be another.
Carolina could be a good shout. Perhaps Denver as well. They could have the cap space.

if a deal isnt done within the next 2 weeks, hes either tagged and traded or they let him walk. THE LAST option is unconscionable.

Why is the last option unconscionable? Fans with opinions like this hamstring the front office.

If Dak gets you to 8-9 or 9-8, then what is the point of keeping him? I can easily get to 8-9 or 9-8 with Dalton or Winston or similar QB at a fraction of the $37M cost. With the savings at QB I can use $25M on defensive FAs and get to 10-6 or better maybe.

So, why is it Dak or bust?

Did you happen to hear Meyer talking about Lawrence on the college pregame's this past season.

He's a new HC and the safest pick in this draft with then least amount of blowback is Lawrence. If he busts, everyone will register shock. This kid has been on the NFL radar ever since he was in high school.

Problem is the team doesn't want to lose him.

So they don't want to have to match a contract that was worked out with another team.

Personally I think a team would deal two firsts for him....but not unless they can sign him long term.....which is why he hasn't already signed with Dallas.

I'm beginning to think either Dak isn't sure about Dallas long term (face it, upper management is pathetic), or the agent is insisting on making a name for himself here.

The cashing in three years down the road thing when he knows first hand what could happen is a joke when he can get it all now if he wants.

I really don't see where this gets to 50-60 million a year for QBs. I guess France does.

But who though? Who in this league thinks they are a Dak Prescott away from a championship?

Would the Saints think that? They saw first hand they can beat him with Teddy Bridgewater..

Carolina? Chicago?

Garrett in NYG would possibly be dumb enough but I don't think we would trade with a division rival.

I just can't see a spot where Dak makes since.

The one idea I can come up with is my original trade I had before the offseason and thats Dak for Tua which I would do.

Ha.....would never happen but could you imagine if Dak came out and said he wants to be a Cowboy for life and would be willing to sign for 10 years but he doesn't trust Jerry and son to build the team correctly, so he wants to sign short term?

Would instantly become my favorite all time player.

Let France fall on the sword and say its his advice.

One can dream yes?

dunno how you feel about Lawrence, nor do we know what Urban thinks..but who's to say they are sold on the kid to come in and run his style of offense? I don't see it. He's a tall lanky kid..He would take alot of hits running. Dak is much stronger and knows how to take a hit and get down. Food for thought. If he uses him like Tebow, he will get hurt. Dak can come in and at least fit his style of offense better IMO.

If he's on the non exclusive, they won't trade him. If he gets an offer he wants, the Cowboys have 5 days to match it or take 2 1sts from that team. They can only trade him on the exclusive tag with his cooperation. If they tag him, I think cooperation is out of the question.

If I was Stephen, I would take two 1st draft picks in a heartbeat for an original 4th round pick. Now that's taking money to the bank.

The fans want Lawrence and they're getting Lawrence. That's the only sure thing in this draft and Lawrence cemented that on his pro day.

Lawrence is the best QB prospect since Peyton Manning. He would have been the #1 overall pick in the last 2 drafts as well. Urban has already worked the kid out. Its a done deal. Lawrence ran a pro style offense but can run.

Part of the issue is you're biased.

Think about his value league wide as opposed to your thoughts on him.

He is worth two firsts on the open market.

At worst a starter and a first, or a first and conditional second.

I heard, yes. Its a mistake. He isnt built to run his offense. He likes to run his QB's alot. This is the NFL not Florida.Dak would fit this style better.

The smart move would have been to sign Dak immediately after the 2018 season.

At this point all the options are bad.

Developing a rookie QB takes time, and that’s assuming we actually get a good one, which is a crap shoot.

Expect more mediocrity from our beloved Cowboys.

Hey, how long do you think it's going to take to build a defense similar to Tampa Bay. Yep, that's right so get a new QB and start the journey.

Yep, I'd fly there to pick them up personally so they couldn't change their mind.
