Do you all get the feeling Pitt wants to avoid a $40m cap hit by keeping Ben in the team by March 17? Sounds like it to me.

They are restructuring his deal so that it isnt 41 mil this year. They both have publicly stated it

That's no secret. They have said they want to restructure to a smaller contract by the start of the new league year or they may have to let him go.

Too bad Dak is holding Dallas hostage. The DFW area sorely needs another champion - haven't had one since 2011 when the Mavericks won.

Yeah, but by now can a restructure work? I'm assuming Ben wants that 41 million, but he's open to how he gets it. Still not good for Pittsburgh. I wouldn't blame Pittsburgh if they did it because they can probably make a run and pay for it later. But they could probably get away with asking Ben to take a pay cut to 25 mil. and be done with it. No other team in the league is paying Big Ben more than that for one year.

Speculating on what dollar amount both sides are working on by a user is no better than sportswriters that do it. Since fans and sportswriters aren't privy to the negotiations maybe we all should just wait until a decisions is made. Oh by the way Big Ben has already agree to the basic idea of taking a pay cut, we just don't know what that will or won't be at this time.

He's already gotten that money... Got paid huge dollars in 2019 to the tune of 45 million dollars... The 41 million dollar cap his this year is a direct result of the 2019 deal...

Big Ben will be a 26 million dollar cap hit. That seems to be the going rate for QBs long in the tooth.

Hey much much much much less than an Einstein when I made that comment Big Ben's situation hadn't been decided and the steelers put a date on which it would be or he might get released. Unlike your big thread that was STARTED AFTER the player was tagged and has ZERO chance to be signed by any other team. Really really really really bad try.

Not now but Rooney said that he would have to take a pay cut by the day before the new league starts or he would have to release him so at the time there was still a possibility. .Try to keep up on things. Again don't bother to reply to this because you're to dumb to discuss this too and I'll just ignore it.
