Those who said that Prescott wasn't getting signed to a new deal have been right for 2.5 years.

They said Dallas didn't want him, which has been proven wrong by the money the Cowboys have thrown at him.

They're only "right" because Dak would rather be a free agent than hitch his wagon to Jerry long-term. :muttley:

Well judging by some of the things Dak's brother has posted out in the wild, what you say may not be far from the truth. I'm also sure that Jerry/family isn't happy that they've tried to negotiate/make deals in good faith and Dak's agent has stone cold turned them down on every offer. Seems like a lot of pride/resentment going on even though they will end up saying "it is Just Business" whatever the outcome.

So you don’t think with a healthy, Dak, offensive line a new DC and several new defensive players the team won’t improve?

They can improve. But we're probably in bad shape for the next year or two. This D is just bad. We could have had Mahomes last year and 8-8 is probably the best that could happen. Dak easily beats Pitt. and the Eagles last year. Diggs has shown promise. Get another guy and who knows? But I won't be expecting a run until at least 3 years from now. Two years if all the cards fall into place.

You might have hit on the reason France has played the stonewall game with the Joneses according to reports but there is one thing that makes me think otherwise.

Booger being his own GM is closer to the players than other owners, and that's one of the reasons he likes doing it. I would think Prescott would feel comfortable talking to him if he didn't want to remain in Dallas and end any negotiation. Or approach a tag and trade situation with them. It's not like there's a rough relationship between Prescott and the Joneses as developed in PHL with Wentz.

We don't know squat because Prescott has played this perfectly and given the media nothing to run with and kept most of the fans on his side. His brother shoots his mouth off but he might be like Billy Carter or Roger Clinton. With what has happened in Dak's family, I don't see him telling his brother to not be himself. Lot of pain shared by the two brothers.

@Risen Star posting breaking news on Dak signing a long term contract.

Never....as your best-case scenario will be Jerry will tag and waste good cap dollars for another sub-par season in 21 and Dak hitting the road in the off-season.
Your worst-case scenario and the one that the majority of GM would implement in our situation is an outright release of the player!

....and think how everyone has said the Dallas defense has sucked for years so how do you expect to rebuild it into a Top 5 defense that Dak needs to win????
Don’t need a top 5 defense. Just top 15. With a new DC, more development in the 2nd and 3rd year players, a top defensive player at #10 and a couple FA’s they could be right there.

In just about 48 hours we should know something, long-term deal or tagged and what type of tag.

Not necessarily. Lawrence was tagged a 2nd time and about 10 days later signed a long term contract. To many people think it has to be either or on March 9th when it doesn't have to be.

Daks most successful years coincided with Dallas having a top 10 defense. And the best we got out of that was 1 playoff win. So much for that theory. But hey we have an overpaid spare at QB so that should be a nice consolation prize for everyone because these days that’s about all this clown show is going to produce.

The sad thing is you could actually offer engaging debate but instead as a grown man you choose to name call and post teenage memes. Oh well.
You reap what you sow. Man up and deal with it instead of whining to the mods.

If we start to hear about some restructuring of other players then that might indicate he’s going to get tagged. If we don’t, and so far we haven’t, it might indicate a long term deal will be had.
Please forgive my ignorance on some of the the nuts and bolts of the NFL salary cap mechanism but when do teams have to be officially cap compliant?
