So 2 days and he’s franchise tagged again?
I'm actually against franchising him again. Either Dallas wants him or not. If they feel it's too much money then Dak needs to get his list of what teams he wants to go to and then tag and trade. On the other hand if Dallas believes he is the franchise QB then sign him.

The tag cost almost 40 million this season, the cap is down and Dallas has a ton of free agents that either need to sign or bring in other guys. A contract allows this season cap hit to be lower than the tag amount.

Please forgive my ignorance on some of the the nuts and bolts of the NFL salary cap mechanism but when do teams have to be officially cap compliant?
From my understanding by start of the league s new year. March 17 I think.

Reap what I sow? Interesting given you called someone a troll for no other reason then they disagreed with your position and then you were called out on it.
Pappydog is a well known troll and everyone here knows why. And you’re rapidly obtaining that permanent status.

it may or may not happen..

my guess is Dak gets the tag, waits a very long time to sign it, Jones get angry brings in a vet qb and draft pick , tells OC go back to run based offense that actually won us games and trade dak before they get nothing for him next offseason..

hope its the NETAG so we can truly end this debate on who would make offers to dak,

I have a feeling he's getting signed. Not the tag either. That's where my money would go if I had to bet. I just hope it's at least a 5 year deal.
I’m thinking I might take your bet. How much did u have in mind??

Agree.

Sign him or move on.

Dak will get tagged, then his haters will say "I told you so". Ignoring the fact the tag buys time til the next deadline in July(?)

Not necessarily. Lawrence was tagged a 2nd time and about 10 days later signed a long term contract. To many people think it has to be either or on March 9th when it doesn't have to be.
.
.
Yes it has to be one or other or else he will become free agent on the 17th. But yes they can still do long term deal until July 15th.

That’s true. They don’t have to be under the cap I don’t think, until March 17th.

They tag Dak & then try to come to an agreement on contract..... Now that Prescott has had some experience dealing w/agents & negotiations etc I believe he will not let France run this negotiation while he sits in the background. That’s really not his personality if u think about it. he will be much more in control this time around. I believe he’ll accept a reasonable offer regardless of France & put this thing to bed. I honestly believe this is exactly how it will play out.

Is there any possibility that the Jones's just aren't THAT high on Dak even though they say it? Maybe deep down they just feel like they want something else at the position for whatever reason. I think they're crazy but it seems to be both sides are being ridiculously stubborn on their demands..to the point both sides are secretly hoping it doesn't work out. It's just weird.

Not wanting to pay Dak Prescott like he's Patrick Mahomes is "ridiculously stubborn".

Try to look at the bright side no matter where you stand. If this is a 5 year deal and the cap spikes due to the new TV deals and whatever, Dallas should be fine as long as their drafts aren't garbage.

So much hand wringing over a few million more per year when the rumor on the Disney/ABC deal was a 30% increase. Heard recently a big fat contract could be coming from Amazon.

How much the cap will increase is the big story for lots of the contracts we have. Unfortunately, I think Dak's agent realizes this too, and won't be signing until the contracts come out.
