25.5 this year aint that bad.

Not that bad? It's as good as you could hope for, even if someone thinks Dak is only an average quarterback, $25.5 mil is average quarterback money.

Now there is risk, if the cap doesn't go back up to last year's $198 mil, or higher, Dak's pay next year will cause problems, but the thing is nobody knows what the cap will be but most expect it'll be back up to the $198 mil or more. So it's a pretty good risk. Don't get too far in the NFL without taking risks...

How about being happy that a person that has spent his entire life working hard to reach the level he is at getting what he deserved.

People think these guys fall out of the womb elite athletes
Why should I be happy that a rich person got more rich? I don't care about his money until it affects my teams chances to compete.. Which it will.

A lot of you guys are more concerned about a person that won't be giving you a dime being paid over your "favorite teams" success.

This is the Dallas Cowboys, not the Dallas Prescotts.

It's a mental illness, bro.
I see more Prescott fans then I do Cowboys fans these days.

I remember when Prescott was hated for going 13-3 and taking Romo's job because "fans" cared more about Romo then they did the Cowboys. Also, I guess the 13-3 was not the 8-8 mediocrity they were used to, so it confused them. Dak didn't become "elite", "loved", and "top 5" until he went 8-8 and 1-3. Weird, huh?

Dak is Romo to them now.

Sounds like the Cowboys were the ones who agreed and Dak freakin' fleeced them. A no trade clause too? This is beyond stupid. The only slightly good news is they added the two voidable years to the deal to stretch the signing bonus over 6 years.

I like Dak and was hoping he would be back, but this is a bad, bad contract.

It's literally the only contract he would sign. Dallas had no choice. Not signing him is even worse.

I think Jerry did this because he KNOWS the disney deal is happening and he knows the cap is going to skyrocket

The thing is my natural inclination is to hope someone snaps him in half week 1 this year just to be free of him but that would only hurt the team now and it's all about the team.

So I am forced to hope a complete stiff can do it.

Yay.
You already did that with Wentz. Quit while you're behind.

Yeah what I heard on TV was like 22 something, but either way I'm surprised at how they got the cap hit that low despite handing the guy like 75 mil this year??? How that works out to a 20 some cap hit is beyond me, but I'm glad to hear it. Hard telling what the cap hit will be for the next 3 yrs after that.

Its because of the 2 voidable years. This is a 6 year deal.

Deal is way too much for a guy that is 1-2 in the Playoffs and comes off a major injury. Cowboys will be the same as the Eagles after they paid Wentz or Seahawks after they paid Wilson or Texans after they paid Watson. If you bury 25% of ur cap on ur QB ur likely not going to be a contender and cant build a good team.

The deal is a 4+2 deal.

When players get a signing bonus, the team is able to spread the prorated cap hit from the signing bonus over a maximum length of 5 years.

So, that 66mil signing bonus is spread over 5 years.

So when determining cap hits, it's really 4 years x 146.8mil, for the first four years.

22 for the 1st year.
Logistics dictate (I seriously doubt you understand, but...) changes every year on the cap hit and the future, but you keep on keeping on.
I seriously doubt you understand this team is going nowhere this season and the reports say 42 a year first 3 years, yes 22 this season cap hit but what you do not understand is the $$$ being back loaded doesn't help build a team. I get your view extend Dak at the end and keep pushing the money out, that's what morons do and why paying a good QB this kind of money is stupid. (Sorry you don't understand this simple concept). Could you post the logistics that support what you say. All this deal says is Jerry once again believes this is a super bowl contender instead of the super bowl pretender they are.

explore the new narrative,

its went from should you pay dak to Should you HAVE paid dak..nothing will change except Daks playing under a very large microscope and his every snap will be dissected from day 1 starting with his practice and PS game reps on his healing ankle..

if the next 3 years we arent in a CG and or a SB , this was huge mistake..

we will be the next rams and eagles or teams who realized their mistake and trying to recover..i hope not but this was an insane price tag for a player who below 5000 the last 2 season and coming off a major ankle injury and whos never been past the 2nd round of the payoffs to be not just the second highest paid qb who ranks 6-10 but the 2nd highest paid PLAYER in the league who i know i can list about 25-30 elite players from all positions before Daks name comes up..

qb market is out of control..

Lol. This is one of those rare moments when I have to go smack my head against the wall to verify I'm conscious.

I can't imagine why the Jones didn't just bend over last year instead of waiting a year to give it up.

Congrats to Dak and Tad.

I wonder what it would take to pry Khalil Mack out of
S.T.U.P.I.D.
actually not so much. What was the alternative? The only way forward to get cap relief was to sign this deal. Its a short term deal that also allows DALLAS to have Dak here when the huge TV deal happens next year or 2 and the cap goes way up. This deal will look cheap by then. While other QB's will be getting 200 mil contracts, Dak will be playing on this 160 mil deal. If we want to move on from him in 2-3 years from now it won't hurt our cap that much. Dunno how you feel, but are you enamored with this years QB class or 2022? Theres only MAYBE 2 guys in this draft class that I would say are good QB's.Next years look awful to be honest. Dak was the way to go here. Good call by the team. Had they signed Dak last year or 2 years ago, Dak would be wanting a new deal right around the time the TV deal would be here and then we would likely lose him, or it would break the bank. NOW the way we did this by waiting to sign him ..what that did was we got him at a discount. Hard to believe..but its true. You will see QB's getting 200 million dollar deals within the next 2-3 years. Insane! Meanwhile, we will have Dak on a bargain deal.

It has nothing to do with hating Dak.. I like Dak.. I just understand that the contract was about relevancy and Dallas signed away any chance to field a title contender.
its not truly on Jerry either the league has set this bad precedent and the QB market is out of control, they were put in tough spot start over now and possibility of being the browns and jags for long while or take the risk now and if it comes to that down the road and we end up bad , well they wont regret not have taken the chance..

the only way they can make this deal worth it is have the best draft and smartest FA off season they can..they have to go all in this isnt a 4 year deal its series of one year deals because they have to get to SB to make this worth it..

the defense has to go from 32 to 16 game 1 to even have a shot because needing to score 30-40 points every game cant be the formula..hopefully Quinn and the new defensive staff can make big difference , we dont have to be great just good on that side of the ball with Dak as our QB....
