That's cute except 2016 actually was played on the field. It also bears noting that the 33-31 you list here include 7 losses that Dak had nothing to do with. The Team's record with Dak on the field during that time has been 29-24. Certainly some of that is on him.. but the last 7 of the losses happened with him on the sidelines. Unless you're proclaiming that he's going to miss 11 games every year from here on out that is intellectually dishonest.

To be honest, the Cowboys teams were not good from 1997- 2002. Aging, declining veterans hanging on, trying to recapture the early-mid 90s dominance, combined with under performing newcomers...being led by underwhelming HCs (Switzer, Gailey, Campo). Past-his-prime Parcells got the franchise out of that 5-11 ditch and back to being a playoff team.
