Unless Harris takes a big pay cut, I don't think they will sign him. You never can rule it out, especially with his former DC on our staff, but it's unlikely. Kazee, Hooker, maybe a Joyner are more realistic. I wouldn't rule out Peterson coming here to play FS, either.

i hear you and what you say is more likely to happen

then these always injured guys will get injured 2 weeks in and we will be talking about another lost season

we have a 2 year window while we have Dak and the other teams in the division struggle

this is not the time to play footsie, this is the time to go all in

I just want 2 starters that actually fill positions of real need

the frustrating part is that options are available at reasonable prices but we inexplicably just elect to do nothing

Their strategy is to build through the draft and resign their players. To successfully do this, they must hit on many of their draft picks or it will set them back. My opinion, think they should spend a little more in the open market and not be so eager to retain some of their players.

4 reasons why the Dallas Cowboys must sign Keanu Neal this offseason dlvr.it/RvjWz9 #Featured #NFL

Give me this guy over Kazoo.

Injury History

2016: Missed 2 games due to MCL sprain in right knee

2018: Missed 15-1/2 games due to ACL tear in right knee

2019: Missed 12-1/2 games due to Achilles tendon tear in right foot

Career Stats

49 Games 338 Tackles 2 INT's 16 PD's 8 FF's 4 FR's 1 Sack 4 QB Hits

2020 Passing Against Stats

66 Targets 49 Completions 74.2% Comp % 564 Yards 1 TD 98.3 QB Rate 9.9% Missed Tackle %

FS Xavier Woods 2020 Passing Against Stats

29 Targets 23 Completions 79.3% Comp % 250 Yards 3 TD's 137.1 QB Rate 7.7% Missed Tackle %

Sorry but while Neal was certainly a quality FS after his first 2 years, the injuries costing him most or all of 2018 & 2019 is certainly a reason to pause in terms of signing him. Also, his missed tackle % is higher than that of Xavier Woods and the targeted completion % is not that much different so would Neal and his injury history really be that much of an upgrade over Woods?

Good points clearly paints a picture of a player worn down and already past his best playing days.

We already have Donovan Wilson who will be playing the same position. Unless they envision him playing FS, they both play the same position.

And Donovan stood out as our best turnover playmaker despite his limited NFL game experience.
He gave us a glimpse of physical hitting tone, INT ability and an ability to blitz-strip fumble the ball.
Someone will have to convince me that what Neal does that is so head and shoulder better than what we already have in Wilson - and warrant of dishing out more FA money to
acquire him.

I think we agree, Wilson has earned a starting position with his strong play last season. Unless Quinn views Wilson more as a FS, it makes little sense to sign a box Strong Safety starter. You can convince me to add depth in the draft, but not in fa.

Where I could see it is you want to move Neal into a LB position on passing downs and Wilson to SS. That may actually work well. Wilson can play FS on run downs. You can get a better pairing, and you would still need a FS, but Neal and Wilson could work

They could also draft a hybrid type like Nasirildeen or Deablo to play that nickel LB role.

That is something I could see them doing. It could work. Honestly right now Im not to excited about our LB's in subpackages. However wheather you sign or draft a guy for that role, you still need a FS. Even if you "start" Wilson at FS, he is playing SS probably 60%-70% of the time.

I feel about a possible Kazee signing now that they didnt rush out and do it day 1. Im more confident in his ability to play at a high level if I know they took time to review his medicals

We certainly going to need a free safety, with Woods expected to depart. Quinn developed Kazee to become a safety from slot corner, I wonder if they have a similar plan for Lewis if resigned or even with Molden on the college level.

It would be nice. A position of need and not a has been or a scrub. But he's going to get paid nicely. I doubt Dallas can compete.
With $15.5M suddenly available to throw into the free agency Dallas can easily afford him. Besides that, Quinn use to coach him. BOOM!

I have no doubt that they can afford him. But we don't know what the Cowboys have in mind. Remember to minus about 10 million in space for rookies. We also don't know who, if anyone, Jerry wants to extend.

You are confusing him with someone who actually has coverage skills. Over the last 3 years, he has been hurt for two and terrible for one. Guy has 0 value.

which is right up Jerry and Stephen’s alley

I've seen other sites list him as a strong safety and his skillet sounds more like a strong safety to me.

He's a SS/Cam Jordan type. I live in Atlanta and saw/read/heard about him. Atl's defense was on the rise until he got injured. Do not know about his coverage skills, but when healthy, he's a 100 tackle a season guy.
