Maybe as insurance for injuries - don't take snaps from guys. Could be that Quinn isn't sold on him.

I think he played well enough to bring him back for another year otherwise he might be replaced with someone less productive.

Sounds like they might have some off-the-field concerns about Aldon Smith.

I'm not against it. He's better than Armstrong and we can't be sure if Anae will be any good. Lawrence, Gregory, Basham and Smith would be a solid rotation. If Anae is any good, then he would need to force himself into that group.

I also think with the signing of Basham, we wouldn't need to play Aldon as much as we did last year, which might increase his effectiveness.

The word I got about Anae was that his weakness was his play vs. the run. I had mainly viewed him as a rotational pass rusher.

if bringing Aldon back means we dont give meaningful reps to Anae then we must let him leave.
If it did last year why wouldn't it this year?

Especially with having Gregory for a full season.

As long as he's not too expensive, I'd bring him back. The second year, and this time with a normal off season. He's not yet established so he'll be playing all out to show off. If nothing else we'll know he's giving the team his best.

If Jerry & Quinn want to make sure they get the most out of Gregory, they may not feel the need to keep Smith. With Gregory & Dlaw set to return, Smith might be a luxury the Cowboys can't afford.

On the super cheap I can see it. I agree that he gassed out due to time off from the game. A full offseason in an NFL program could work wonders for him. He's a good to rational guy.

we keep saying for cheap, but understand, you get what you pay for sometimes. I say lets cut bait with Aldon and lets give the youngsters a shot. We did draft Anae, why not use him?

Here is an out of the box idea.

Anae at 6'3" 257 lbs could solve our problems at MLB. So I have no quarrels with bringing in another DE. Especially if moving Anae is in the game plan.

Sorry about my out of the box thinking. I just want a linebacker with some heart, for a change. LVE and J.Smith don't like taking on offensive linemen, IMO. So they suck at stopping the run.

I am on board. I feel just get the man on the field and he will shine. Hes a gamer, an athlete with a high motor and high FB IQ. Just makes plays. Not sure why we drafted him if we have no plan for him.

Broaddus wouldn't get into anything specific. He simply said there are issues that need looked at with him. He was hinting at some possible off-field stuff.
I tend to trust Bryan alot on things like this.
