As a fan from the UK I've never understood it either. That and 'world champions' that one always makes me smile. Fair enough when we have a franchise in London
I'm all for a franchise in London...

Americas Team... Never liked it. Yes or No
I've always loved the name America's Team. That's who we are like it or not.... for all the people who say we aren't America's Team anymore.... ask them who's the first team to pop up in their minds when they hear the words America's Team.....

I rest my case.

It meant a lot more back in the day when every NFL franchise tried to have the same success and modeled themselves after the Cowboys.....today....its a relic for other fans to make fun of the Cowboys for the past 25 years......I have no issue calling them America's Team.

Don't blame the Cowboys, you can blame Steve Sabol of NFL films for applying the label. The Cowboys just brilliantly capitalized on it.

Our Superbowl winning teams would bust their *****..... period!!

International football can turn up some interesting results e.g. Germany defeated USA in the World Games.

A lot of Americans have quite recent overseas heritage - you can generally play for the country of birth of your grandparents. In theory several countries could field squads of mostly NFL players.

Well the "world champions" applies actually.
If a country has an issue with it, let them form a football league, then challenge the SB champs.

Do you have a problem then with the World Series?

NFL films coined that phrase, Tex Schramm took it and ran with it. And it worked.

I actually never gave World Series a thought. But regardless of whether it's World Champions, World Series, or World Cup, only one of them is an actual world competition.
