Wow, that's absurd.
One more name for ya.

People only remember how we "missed" on a guy. And never follow-up to see how that guy did.

Again free agency is great for dopamine hit. It's not how you build a team.

We have underachieved for many reasons. Our recent free agency approach is not one of them.

What was mangled....you know what...nevermind.

Have a blessed day.

Gil points out teams that spent crazily in FA. Cowboys fans aren’t asking for that. Again there is a massive difference between doing what Gil laments in his tweet and what the Cowboys are doing.

I would rather have two extra picks in the top three rounds of the draft than sign two expensive veteran free agents. They have the potential to be just as productive as some of these older guys that have seen better days. They are far cheaper with far greater potential.

If the Cowboys can keep away from overpaying some guy that just wants to steal money on his way out then they have won in free agency.

Besides, I'm not impressed with the Free Agency Championship trophy.

Only 4 of 10 teams were in the top 16 teams in FA spend.

None were in the top 10.

Your argument is that Cowboys should be 17th in FA spending or something. Just asinine.. Unless of course you think a few million dollars one of these years or a significant ree agent any one of those years was the difference in winning it all or not. Which....lol

I think the two years the Cowboys barely lost in the divisional round could have potentially had a different outcome with an impact free agent.

I, and many others, aren't asking for the Cowboys to be a Top 10 FA spending team. Yes, 17th or 18th or 19th would be much better if that meant they went out and just brought in one guy on a decent sized contract that they know would fill a clear role for them. Take for example, John Johnson at S.

What's funny is watching you and others continue to defend a strategy that continually fails for the Cowboys. Same thing almost every year. Sign some low level guys, a sizable number bomb out before the season or during the season, and then next offseason people come back to defend their strategy. FA isn't the sole reason they fail each year. Typically they fail because of coaching and roster flaws. Roster flaws can be fixed by the draft, free agency or trades. The Cowboys largely ignore one way to improve their roster. So yeah, their strategy might not be why they continue to lose but their inaction also doesn't necessary help them win either.

Also everyone who wants us to go out and give out market rate deals...i'm sure will be ignoring every comp player we select in this, past and future drafts. Because they do not believe they should be here and offer no value.

I also love the annual...lets cherry pick the one free agent deal that appears to work out and assume thats what we would have/have gotten in FA. All you need is a 100% hit rate the way some tell it. Btw the same organization they say is incompetent and laments every big deal we sign our own guys to....somehow will be perfectly capable of picking the diamonds from the turds in free agent free for all. Makes sense!

You need a mix of all of this, being penny pinchers in FA doesn't get you Super Bowls either when you have glaring holes.

If your team has glaring holes it means it's not drafting well enough. The backbone of every roster should be it's draft; then signing players in free agency that can provide depth in my opinion.

Unless you're getting Tom Brady or that rare superstar some team lets walk, free agency is basically other teams' leftovers.

Huh? You are lucky to hit on two draft picks in each draft. Most glaring holes on team is mismanaging money and poor choices in FA. Free agency is where you go to fill holes with known commodities.

Many teams that use the same philosophy as the Cowboys to build through the draft and only occasionally signing a free agent that go year after year to the playoffs and Super Bowls. If the Cowboys were like many of those teams that needed just that one player to get them over the hump, then those that whine because the Cowboys aren't jumping in over paying those big name free agents might have a point. But the Cowboys aren't ANYWHERE CLOSE to being just 1 player away from getting over the hump so they spend on free agency to get as much help as they can without using all their cap space on 1 free agent other teams don't want anymore.

yup exactly what i was going to type to the OP,

name me all the big players in FA? Ill names the other 20 who weren't, without doing research I'm betting im pretty close and being generous. Usually about 5-6 teams go head first into FA and they and sign everyone and it seldom pays off..

i would lie to see a S and a vet corner maybe still signed or trade for the FDT they seek..but nothing huge but more likely after we see how the draft pans out..
