Believe Surtain is their 1 Target

You don't send your director of scouting and your DC to a pro day unless you have major interest in a particular player. No, they weren't looking at Barmore, Leatherwood, Moises, they were there to watch Patrick Surtain.

I strongly believe he is the team's #1 target at 10. If for some reason he is off the board, then it means a Elite offensive player has fallen into their laps such as Pitts, Waddle or Slater. Team could also consider taking Horn (who I heard has ties with our coaching staff) at 10 or in a trade back scenario.

With the new DC and a handpicked defensive back coach, I truly believe a corner has been earmarked for their 1st rd selection, barring any unexpected thing happening. With Farley most likely off their board, focus is directly on Surtain.

My guess is they were also looking at Barmore and Leatherwood.

Largely agree but I don’t understand the thinking that Horn is ok at 10 but Barmore is not

if I’m stuck at 10 abd my scouts give me the thumbs up I’m taking Barmore

This is likely exactly right. And if anything, the Farley news has made the choice that much simpler for us.

Surtain top target.
If he's not there, someone else has fallen.
Meaning we either take that person, entertain trade down options for that person, and have Horn as our backup plan

Curious to see who they send to parsons pro day on Thursday. Scratch that I’m curious to see how many teams go see him after all the concerns.

He could be the best DT on the roster in his rookie season. We need to stop the run and generate an interior pass rush and he could do both. I have Barmore as the 12th best player in the draft.

We are way more than a good rookie CB away on defense. I'm hoping one of those QBs are on the board at #10 setting us up for a big trade.

An interesting question is what are we going to if Surtain doesn't make it to 10 and we CAN'T find a trading partner and the offensive player that drops is a QB ( Fields maybe ). I mean it's not a reach to think Pitts and Slater could come off the board before Fields.

If Surtain is gone then i would love to trade down but if thats not possible i would pick either Sewell or Slater.

Surtain is one of the few players you could take on defense that would be rated as a top 10'ish prospect. I like Surtain and believe he will be a very good pro.
Having said that, I can also understand trading back and getting another CB (Horn, Newsome, etc) and using the extra pick to get another really good player.

JOK for me. But not getting a trade partner at 10 would seem unlikely to me if Fields drops.

I could certainly be wrong but I'm not sure we'll see a lot of teams looking to trade up. The fact the salary cap was cut/reduced this year makes EVERY pick gold IMO. In other words, assume you're drafting 15, would you give 2nd and/or 3rd picks to move to let's say 10th spot?

Will McClay was also at the Longhorn Pro Day. Does that mean we’re taking Caden Sterns, Cosmi, or Ossai at #10?

Of course McClay is going to be at Bama’s Pro Day. They have some of the top talent in all of college football.
When you bring your scouting director, DC outside the state, it speaks volumes.

Many media scouts, believe Horn is the #1 corner in the class. With the news of Farley, I don't think he gets out of the top 15. I would be surprised if Barmore gets drafted in the teens, he is more of a fringe 1st rounder.
