I understand he and the Jones family have funded lots of stuff in low-income neighborhoods around Dallas. But, many fans don't seem to care about stuff like that.

George Steinbrenner said that if you donated money and the media knew about it, then you did it for the wrong reasons.

Jerry is a spotlight *****. This was about nothing more than that and a tax break.

This type of hate is why this place has so many jokers on it, and is becoming a joke of a place.

Wait....are you saying he did it for a reason other than income tax write offs and for the attention?

Its not hate....its the truth.

He didn't do this to be a good guy.

I have plenty of personal dislike for the man, but this isn't about that.

I told it like it is....if that's "hate" then so be it.

There are three reasons wealthy people donate money.

The first one is so the public can see what a great person they are trying to be, followed by a tax break and helping whichever overall cause it may be.

There's no reason at all that the general public would need to know if it were reason #3, yet we do.

Steinbrenner was very correct.

Glad Jerry gave money to what is probably a very worthwhile cause, but I'm not going to sit here and pretend that it wasn't about him grabbing media attention.

Its not a problem....everyone wins and thats great.

Just be real about it is all I'm saying.

Well I do. I worked with a lady that her fiancé worked in the front office in the SB 90's teams. She has one of his SB rings. And yes I seen it and have photos of it. She keeps it in a safe deposit box at the bank around the corner from my house. As he was killed in an accident before they were married.
His family gave her one of the 3 rings.
She showed me pictures of Christmas, Thanksgiving dinners at Jerry's house. Her mom was the hair dresser of Troy's mother.

I was going to ask her out for dinner, but when she told me that one fiancé, was killed in the motorcycle accident, and another finance was killed, hit by a train. I thought, no freaking way.

She said there is so much stuff Jerry does for charities that the media doesn't even know about.

So hate on if you must.

Oh and I also seen pictures of her and another guy she dated, Mickey Mantles son.

First, I dont care who you know, or if you're Jerry's secret lover for that matter.

That isn't the point.

I'm not saying he isnt a generous guy, nor am I hating on the guy.

I'm just saying that Jerry could have donated the money without the media knowing, but there was no way he was skipping that part of it.

Everyone wins. All good.

But if you want to sit there and tell me that tax benefits and the opportunity to look like a great guy wasnt part of this, then please your uncles sisters girlfriends mothers daughter or whatever to ask Jerry why the general public needed to know about it.

I mean, you could be right. Jerry was never about getting all the "credit" he thinks he deserves.

Please.

Unfortunately that is such a short sighted opinion and he should have known better. So should you but your angle here is personal animosity which blinds you.

I’ve worked with a number of non profits and the publicity that comes from large public donations is almost as important as the donation itself

Almost certainly many of those seeing this article had no idea such a thing existed. Some of those people will either donate themselves or go with their families to learn about the Medal of Honor and its place in our history.

Without a doubt, some of Jone’s business partners outside the Cowboys will also make donations and spread the word

The article itself discusses how Charlotte was able to deliver President Bush to a ceremony announcing the museum. What is the endorsement of a President, who lives here, worth for a non-profit?

Ever known a MoH recipient? I highly doubt it but if you were to ask any of them how they felt about this endeavor, I’m sure you’d get an earful.

I agree with you, but I think A LOT of people question that.

A lot think he's a bad person because they take a personal affront to the way he runs the Cowboys lol

I think he is a bad person for all the crap he has done in real life ...... I think he is a bad GM for all the crap he has done to the Cowboys.

He spent over 10 times the amount he just donated on his party yacht so people will no longer catch him with teenage strippers.
