In no way saying I think Woods warranted bringing back to Dallas but interesting stat:

Missed Tackle % 2020

X. Woods 7.7%

K. Neal 9.9%

D. Kazee 9.1%

Opposing QB Comp % 2020

X. Woods 79.3% (23 of 29 for 250 Yards and 3 TD's)

K. Neal 74.2% (49 of 66 for 564 Yards and 1 TD)

D. Kazee 75% (3 of 4 for 54 Yards)
Very small sample size with Kazee

Good riddance. IMO one of the worst starters in the league last year. Guy thought he was a stud. It was laughable. He sucked.

Neal played in eight man fronts 47 percent of the time last year. That means he faced far more tackle oppurtunities than Woods; hence the higher percentage of missed chances (due to volume).

Neal had 100 tackles last year; including 74 solo stops. And something tells me Woods was probably out of position so much last year he missed out on several tackle chances in the first place.

Some of the comments ab Xavier Woods is ridiculous and honestly ignorant... which is more of an indicator of the fanbase than it is of Woods. I’m not here to insinuate he was irreplaceable, but a bit of appreciation should be shown.

Woods first few years playing under Marenilli’s “single-high” safety scheme, he was showing real promise for a 6th Rd pick, even earning NFC Defensive player of the week honors at one point. For what it’s worth, PFF noted the following after 2019...

-“Xavier Woods forced an incompletion on 80.0% of his red-zone targets this season – that's more frequent than any other safety.”

Then Mike Nolan happened. And I don’t have to remind you that the entire defense was garbage! That said, playing the single high safety role is dependent on the other 10 guys in front of you to handle their duties also.. that didn’t happen.

Ironically enough, the defense Xavier was ascending in, has presumably returned under Dan Quinn’s guidance. Could Woods have continued improving had it not been for the debacle of 2020? I suppose we’ll never know. One thing we’ll surely find out.. is Dan Quinn’s familiarity with Kazee (coming off an Achilles injury no less) enough to provide significant improvements? I digress.

Woods had his warts and we can definitely improve IF Dallas decides to spend the necessary draft capital to actually make dramatic improvements. Woods has earn criticism, but he’s also earned some credit. He’s definitely not trash as some have spewed. At the end of the day, I suspect he will never be spectacular, but he’ll probably continue to give meaningful production for another team that values DL talent.

The same people who will miss Woods are the same people who thanked Tyrone Crawford for his services. Good riddance to trash.
Crawford is the epitome of the weak leadership thats plagued this team. Him coming out with that nonsense hype job about Hill looking like a beast was embarassing. Bunch of enabling chumps on this team.

I have a feeling he'll play better. Playing next to Harrison Smith and under Mike (aka football jesus) Zimmer night make a difference. I doubt he'll be allowed to do the foolishness he pulled here.

There should be no problem with someone like Crawford who have it his all every play. It’s the coaches fault for playing him and not finding a suitable replacement.
