I believe Neal with play strong safety if KJ Wright is brought in. This is the best move for the defense that keeps complimentary players at their natural positions including Jaylon.

I believe Stephen Jones is holding up the deal because he doesn’t want to admit he is wrong on Sean Lee, dude is always injured and won’t help contribute to this team.

This is the last move that needs to happen and let where people play and what happens to Smith work itself out. Smith needs to be phased out soon anyway. Use the draft to find replacements for all these 1 year deals and underperforming players that need to go sooner than later.

KJ Wright would probably be a 2 down LB while Neal would come on the field for passing downs. I have Wilson penciled in as the SS, but new coaching staff so who knows..

Sean Lee will be 35 before the start of the season and has played for 11 years, Sean Lee will not be the reason in IMO that the Wright deal gets done or not.

It will be more about dollars and whether Quinn can convince the FO that it is a worth wild investment with Smith, Vander and Neal already signed and probably snagging another within the first 4 rounds of the draft. Also would really love the leadership/edge that KJ would bring to the D.

Personally if Wright would come for close to Neal dollars I think Dan can find a way to use them all based on their strengths/weaknesses to put the best guys on the field situation-ally.

If Wright is signed it doesnt necessarily mean that Neal moves to SS. It could mean less snaps for Smith and LVE, put them in positions to succeed. The Cowboys may be best served at times to play Neal at SS depending on teams and downs. But it could also mean both Neal and Wilson are together on the field and one of Smith and LVE isnt.

One thing is for certain the signing of Wright gives the Boyz flexibility and betters the D.

There's a good chance that any of the 3 LBers we've had will probably get injured.

Agree with your take. Include Wright in the discussion as needing less snaps as well. As someone else mentioned his leadership with skins on the wall would be extremely valuable to this Hot Boyz nonsense. Neal, Wilson, LVE, Wright is a good combo. Jaylon & LVE will need to earn their reps. Do it Dallas...

Doubt it. Neal was identified for a very specific role that matched his most dominant snaps on D in ATL. That role is -- -whatever position you call it -- one where the team has two traditional LBs and Neal at the strong side. Very likely part of negotiations was Neal being sold on this as something that would help him put together some good film and numbers going into free agency next year. We aren't getting someone to push him back to SS.

Wright would be coming here to fill Lee's role as a backup but, more importantly, he'd be here to allow us to provide competition for our sometimes under performing LBs.

I dont see how this moves happens. Jerry is dead set on backing Jaylon and LVE because he has invested in them. Would have LOVED to have seen them dump Jaylon and sing Wright.

He needs to be just a backup not a starter. He get can not play a season anymore. Never available past one start. They need some guts who can stay on the field.

It kinda sucks we're over here talking about penny pinching, knowing that if Jerry held his ground, Zeke would be up for a new contract and I'd figure would cost less than he does now considering I don't think anyone would pay him what he is currently making.
