Biggest thing that has driven me crazy with this team is not being able to build on successful seasons. We take 1 step forward then 2 steps back. We have seen 13-3 and other winning season but fail to turn around the following year and build off of it.

Garrett only went 9-7 once. He had a thing for 8-8 seasons, accomplishing that feat 4 times.

My theory on our 8-8 seasons is this
  1. We win four of them because our players simply outmatched the other team.
  2. We win another four on some super human effort by Romo, Dez, Dak etc.
  3. We lose the other eight because opposing coaches would completely out-scheme and out-coach Garrett.

Dallas isnt half as bad as alot of fans want to say they are

in a 32 team league over the past i'd say 17-18years i put them right around 11 or 12

this is a team that has only had 4 losing seasons since 2003....2004, 2010, 2015 and 2020.....

usually this team will get you between 8 and 11 wins a season but not much if anything after that

agreed fell short a lot of disappointments but trying to put them in the Cleveland and jet type collapses is ridiculous and thats the fans narratives around here..

weve been more then relative and the word mediocre is close but still a bit low in ranking..

Yep. The Cowboys for whatever reason take the same approach to the off season regardless of the previous season. Even after 2014 the Cowboys went into 2015 a worse team IMO. Even if Romo didn't get injured, that team wasn't going 12-4 again.

Depends on where you're lining up the goalposts.

Is the goal not looking bad on the field? If that's the case, then your point is good, Dallas looks bad less often than a lot of teams. But take the Rams for instance: They had a horrible stretch of losing from about 2005-2015. But apart from that, they made 3 superbowls in the salary cap era, 3 league MVPs, got a ring, and generally are viewed positively for each of those accolades despite that rough stretch.

Is Dallas's avoidance of losing more than 9 games really so much more impressive than what the Rams have done?

The Cowboys had 15 winning seasons in the first 20 that consisted of 16 games.

In the 23 seasons since then the Cowboys have had a winning record 10 times.
Actually highlights how bad the coaching was during that time.

BS stats! Just like with Prescott and his 2016 season the Cowboys winning percentage was inflated in the early years of the 16 game seasons. They began in 1978. The better measure for Dallas would be how has this team done since it's last SB.
