How many starters are we needing to Draft in order to feel we improved?

we need a starter at Linebacker because if Jaylon and LVE play like they did last year i'd cut ties you need a starter at corner and safety and you need maybe a starter on the Oline and you need a DT

CB We should be able to improve on Awuzie's six starts last year. They've shown interest in Surtain and Horn.
FS I hardly noticed Woods last year so that shouldn't be too hard.
LB A LB that diagnoses plays takes on blocks and creates negative plays would be a welcome change. Bolton would add some grit to the front seven.
Edge our sack leader had 6.5 sacks last and they didn't re-sign second place. They've shown interest in many of the top edge rushers.
DT Someone that doesn't get pushed back 2-3 yards but actually sheds blocks and makes plays on running plays and can also collapse the pocket on passing plays is something we've needed for a while now.

I guess it's five.

We can wish for as many unrealistic things as we'd like but getting 5 defensive starters out of this draft is not happening.

If we got 2 or 3 that would be alot and that's probably pushing it at this point.

You will get some back up guys who can potentially start the following season but as far as guys who will come in and start right away, I'd say it's probably 2 players.

This would just about do it. All of the players in the first three rounds have starter grades except Payton Turner who just misses.

R4P10 WR Tylan Wallace MM usually takes a WR on day three so why not get one that has a starter grade
R4P27 S Divine Deablo LB/S that we seem to be moving to
R5P4 G/T Jaylon Moore Quality G/T for when the injuries on OL start
R5P11 CB Robert Rochell Small school prospect with extreme ballhawk traits.

You're lucky if a draft gets you 3 starters total, especially not in the first year. After 10, I wouldn't expect any guy drafted is going to start on opening day.

For this year we will likely end up with 1-2 starters/ major role players barring injury. But long term we should end up with 3-4 guys who are starters/major role players over the next 4 years.

We do have alot of holes on defense that weren't filled through FA unfortunately, but not fixing them then, doesn't mean we will through the draft either. Ideally, the guys we draft will fix some of those problems over time, but initially, as in to start the season, I see 2 maybe 3 if we are lucky, draftees becoming starters.

I know we do not use BPA..just look at Taco. That is a great example of drafting position and failing. We have to stop doing that . we also. Did it drafting Wolf Hunter. Another big fail we all found out. And it goes on and on.

Well technically I'd say even 1 new starter and we're considered improved.
But IMHO we need 3 new starters to be dramatically better. But they need to be at the right places.
FS, 1TDT are must haves.
Then it's either a stud pass rusher or a stud CB. I tend to think the pass rusher is the better piece to have but we need both so take your pick.
If we could some how land Phillips, Moehrig and McNeil we'd be in very good shape.
