Unfortunately for the Cowboys LVE has turned into a younger Sean Lee and because of his inability to stay healthy they have to let him walk. Jerry can't afford to have carry (2) ineffective LBers with long term contracts. It's bad enough having one over hyped and over paid LBer in Jaylen Smith running up the field 50 yds after finally reading an assignment correctly and making a tackle. If Jerry can find a way to sign Wright then he needs to pull the trigger on that deal.
Honestly I wish he would pull the trigger on both but he probably cannot. Too much money involved.

Yup. If he returns to form just franchise him like they did dlaw. He doesnt deserve a 5th year option let alone a long term deal
Even if he returned to his peak form from his rookie year, he's not worthy of a franchise tag imo.

I think we will cut ties with him after this contract, I just dont have faith in him staying healthy...thiugh we did hold on to Lee, at least he provided more leadership.

After watching LVE in college, and hearing about him before that when he he was being recruited. Just my opinion.

I think LVE (as well as Smith) suffered, performance wise, under a horrible DC and his unwise system application.

LVE's health is a different issue. Necks and spinal cords are a tricky issue.
That could explain the 2020 season, but what about 2019...

And I know LVE had a season ending injury but he wasn't exactly lighting it up before that.

... no doubt LVE has talent. But its a brutal game. Further mentioning his job will always involve head contact being MLB. I would pass on his contract. Surgery so early in career not good indicator.

The issue with LVE is they will need to make a call on his 5th year option before seeing him on the field this season.

How many times has that 5th year option been declined yet the player resigned long term with the original team?

I'd say not often if ever

Two questions, one answers the other. If he's healthy the Cowboys want him long-term. ;)

If he's healthy, I think the scheme change is going to do him...and 54, a ton of good. Lool at the film from 2018 and compare it to last year's. The d-line actually held their ground in 2018, allowing the linebackers to diagnose plays and flow to the ball. Last year, offensive linemen ran wild in the second level of the defense, negating both of their natural talent to shoot gaps and disrupt plays.

Look, I'm not making excuses for either of them. LVE has to figure out what's going on with and correct his health situation. 54 has to get better at focusing on the task at hand and stop allowing shiny objects to distract him off the field......but they both have talent and they've both played at a high level in this league, for this team. If Quinn is as good as advertised, with the addition of Neal and maybe a LB early, this group could very well become a strength again.

Just a thought

Cowboys need to move on from LVE. His health is a lifetime issue.
