And Davis fans.....

For the entire leadup to the 2021 NFL Draft, Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons has been the presumed top rated linebacker and an expected high pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. This spring, however, some teams have soured on Parsons because of his disappointing tape and concerns about his character. Multiple team sources have said their teams have Kentucky linebacker Jamin Davis graded higher than Parsons and they would not be shocked if Davis is the first linebacker drafted.

"Parsons has traits, but I was disappointed when I watched the tape," said an AFC director of player personnel. "I thought I was going to see a Devin White-caliber player; [Parsons] definitely is not. I really like Davis. I wouldn't be shocked if he goes in the first round, maybe even top 20."

Parsons created a lot of media buzz with his great pro-day workout, but that was expected because he was a known workout warrior with an excellent combination of size, speed, explosion and athleticism. Davis came through with an amazing pro day of his own, and some team sources whose teams are picking high in the second round think Davis won't get to their picks. In the 40-yard dash, Davis put up shocking times, with unofficial marks of 4.41 and 4.37 seconds. Those would be superb times for a wide receiver, but for a linebacker, they are incredible. Davis also illustrated his explosion with a 42-inch vertical leap and an 11-foot broad jump. The 6-foot-3, 234-pound Davis also produced an impressive 2020 season of tape that has caused him to steadily rise.

It only takes one team to fall in love, and both of these linebackers have great skill sets. Parsons could still be the first linebacker drafted, but some teams think Davis is the better player and would prefer to draft him.

Honestly. This draft is loaded with talent at lb. I like parsons a lot. I also like most of the linebackers in Jok. Davis. Browning. Cox. Moses.etc in multiple rounds it’s a stacked linebacker draft. Now everyone keeps nitpicking about parsons I feel. No matter what anyone says about him he’s still their top lb and likely top defensive player in the draft. Which is an oxymoron how so many are putting down his attributes.

I'm a Parsons guy, and this doesn't do a whole lot for me.

For this one negative scouting report, there's a boatload of positive ones.

Well, there have been reports that he has some Character stuff in his past, going back to a year ago, that I saw. I'm not close to the Penn State Program so I don't know if it goes back further or not.

We all need to take in a count that Parsons is new to the position, where he is just sratching the surface. Everyone loves Davis, but he is basically a one yr wonder.

I see a Dont'a Hightower/Rolando McClain type player but more athletic. He's a big physically gifted Mike who is going to thrive at making plays behind the line, in the box, and along the LOS. He's the type of player that's going to give you sacks, tackles for loss, and forced fumbles, as well as being an enforcer in the run game. I just don't see the Jaylon comparisons other than athleticism.

I see a lot of Jaylon Smith.

Guy who relies on straight speed and athleticism and isn't much of a football player.

I think Jaylon Smith, if put into the right scheme and if not for an injury, could have been a great, great NFL Player. But he's always been a run and chase guy, not a stonewall shed and stick LB. For example, if you had Jaylon Smith in a Tampa Two scheme playing the WILL, I think he could be really, really good. If you put him in Crennels version of the 34 and played him at Jack, the way Derrick Johnson used to be used, I think he could be really good. Put him in Pittsburgh in that 70s D and let him play Jack Hams role, he could be good. I think he's a run and chase guy and if you just let him do that, then he can be effective for you but he's never gonna be the guy who fills a gap and turns the ball carrier in, which is what we ask him to do a lot of times.

Arrington was a beast until he got hurt and was never the same Post injury.

Well....... One good season, 2002, two other pretty good seasons in 2001/2003. But that 2002 season, 95 tackles, 70 Solo, 12 TFL, 8 PDs, 11 sks, 1 TD, that was a hell of a season. Never ever duplicated that and really only had two seasons where he started all 16 games.

Parsons is probably the same then.

I dont want guys that need this and need that around them to be successful at pick 10.

I'd want someone who makes others better.

Even Ray Ray and Luke needed a dline in front of them to do work. Not saying I like Parsons because I'm neutral on him

Well where does NFL.com and ESPN have Parsons rated ? I’ve said all along that he is the best defensive player in the draft. No anonymous scout and certainly not Broddaus is going to change that.

But ESPN is probably a collection of more than 1 opinion. Same with NFL network. All comes down to what opinions matter to you the individual. Personally Broaddas is not one that matters much to me.

This is basically Micah Parsons + instincts...and he’s shown the ability to blow up blocks and work through trash inside.

If the off the field checks out, he’s an elite prospect.
