If this happens, he's a free agent after this season. In other words, our LBer issue is more serious some believe. Can't imagine not drafting one within the first 3 picks.

19. Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Dallas Cowboys
Cost: $9,145,000

AV Index: 20 Actual | 17.2 Expected | 116% | 14th

YES | NO | OTHER

Vander Esch made a positive impact as a rookie, but injury concerns that followed him from Boise State into the NFL have proved justified. He’s missed 13 games over the past two seasons. Some teams removed Vander Esch from their draft boards over injury concerns. The Cowboys obviously were not one of them. Will they double down on a questionable initial investment?

This is good if true. You may get the best LVE has in a contract year. They can always re-sign him. Too much uncertainty to commit that type of coin. Personally, hope LVE can turn back into the Wolf Hunter and justify a good contract.

Good point.. if he gets hurt this year he might consider retirement.

I'm not sure whether or not they will definitely go linebacker in the first three rounds, but it wouldn't shock me. But I definitely expect to see them add to the position. I could see two to three added before the draft is over.

What's the deadline for that decision? I'd think a lot depends on his 2021 performance.

I think it will depend upon on the draft shakes out. If they do not use a top 100 pick on the position, Lve gets his 5th yr option picked.

I think we need 2 LBs in this draft, one in the 2-3 rd range as future MLB starter and another later to develop for next year

I want to move on from both LVE and the ballerina next year . This is why I would have loved to decline the money for Jaylon this year, but signed Neal and instead signed KJ Wright

it should not

in a sense this is his contract year so I fully expect him to play great but this guy is one hit away from the sideline so there is no way we should pay him

I’m in the minority but without knowing his full medical I pay it or just go ahead and get a long term deal done.

It's a gamble. If he has another good year, the Cowboys are going to wish they picked up that 5th year.

I'm not locked into any round but would certainly do so if the value lines up.

I would have done that as well, but we know all too well that this team would rather continue to throw millions down the drain rather than admit when they make a mistake.

I say for once they need to let the player prove hes ready for a long tern, non injury, highly productive season before they shell out money, rather lose the guy then overpay him..he only had one solid year and now is in prove it mode..

if we pick Parsons at 10 LVE might be expendable a reboot etc..

doesnt anyone wonder if Bernard and gifford could add something ? curious how Quinn and the new staff deals with them as opposed to Nolan..

so wait and see is my choice..
