Although not the consenus best \ highest rated defensive prospect (I've viewed Farley ranked 1st in a half-dozen mocks), Parsons or Surtain have been 1-2 as being the first defensive players picked. Earliest projections for both - Parsons @ 7 to Detroit, Parsons @ 8 to Carolina, Parsons & Surtain @ 9 to Denver, Surtain @ 10 to Dallas.
We could see both Horn and Surtain off the board at 10. That would mean almost certianly we are looking at a scenario of Parsons,Sewell or Slater being available at 10.

I see him going 4th to ATL in one mock.

I looked, but really couldn't find much aside from some hazing stuff. That would not be any sort of deal breaker for me.
Yeah Thats all it is. I read about that too. Sounds like just some maturity issues. But he seems very good at football. I think hes like 21 years old...a young pup. Most kids like that have to grow up as we all do at that age. I just hope he has people around him to keep him grounded.Like I said, I am warming up to him.

Horn has been gaining traction in some mocks...but I can't see him going in the top 9.
At no. 10, the Cowboys will be sitting and waiting right up until the 9th pick is done - by the Broncos - or some team trading up for that spot. The x factors are whether the 4th and fifth ranked QBs are chosen in the top 9.

And nobody knows if he can cover down field so that automatically has me saying no thanks.

The things he stands out for are the same things that Jaylon Smith is actually good at.
From what I have read and seen concerning Parsons, Dallas would be spending the number 10 pick on a player with the same strengths and weaknesses as Jaylon. I have my doubts that a Jaylon clone is worth the 110th pick and it is not worth discussing with the 10th pick.

------- He refuses to have an open mind and he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room.

He wants you to think he is the smartest guy in the room, but I can assure you that he does not believe it himself.....he is a very insecure little man.
Just curious how much time you have spent with him.

mick wants parsons at 10. I am starting to warm to the idea. Something about Surtain seems like snake oil..not that he isnt a good player, but I dont see him as an alpha dog that we need on d that can emotionally lift this unit on his back and elevate them. He seems more like a Byron Jones clone. To me, haven't we seen this before? I feel like Carolina might take Parsons. For me, if we want an alpha dog impact player at 10, we better roll the dice on Parsons or Horn. Pitts will be long gone. OR we could take horn at 10 then come back for Nick Bolton at 44. Both would fill glaring needs immediately and see heavy playing time week 1. Nick has has alpha dog in him too. A tackling machine and leader.

When it comes to player comparisons.... Surtain reminds me of Mo Claiborne. Question is...will Surtain have a better career? The tools are there.

Um... both his legs and feet work. Ran a sub 4.4 and is a real tackle machine that can shed blocks and move through trash to get to the ball. Jaylon can't do any of those things.

Mickey's latest, on drafting the BPA on defense and not gearing it toward a CB.
Makes some good points on 3 different LB's. And that depth in the 1st 2 rounds at CB & LB gives the Cowboys some options.

However I think they could trade down from 10 an still grab one of the 3 LB's, as well as CB's.

Nothing rah rah here for you haters to whine about, just some good info.

The answer to Mickey's Why Not is simple: because the best defensive player at 10 may simply be bad value.

I'm with you on trade back. No 3 tech even close to a 10. No superstud FS worth it. I'm against spending big on CB. A 10 translates into 3 2nd round picks where we should be able to get a quality starter at the less premier positions. And we have so many holes on defense to fill.
The draft just didn't fall our way. No Aaron Donald to draft. I don't think a DE, and that's not a need, IMO. Certainly not this year, and I'm surprised they haven't already been talking about an extension with Gregory. Maybe they have, and just don't want to tip their hand in the draft. Spend a 10 at LB? 1T? More ordinary 3T, CB, FS? Nah. Just bad value for us this year at 10.

....Parsons, Seen enough written on him to worry about instincts. He will never have S.Lee level instincts. Actually sounds like a healthy Jaylon coming out of college. Dominated with top level athletic ability....Don't see him worth #10.....

Has a Lb ever developed S.Lee instincts while on Nfl sidelines?.... Asking ...

Tristan Wirfs was a beast at LT as a rookie for Tampa. He elevated the oline unit immensely and is partly why they won alot of games. People forget that. Our oline looks very shaky.
Need to make sure we get Sewell or Darrisaw.

There are quite a few Mickey "dislikers" on here that will start throwing the insults toward him no matter what. He can write ...Good morning it is 72º and sunny, and the Cowboys are working out early this morning....and many will find fault with that, or knock him somehow.

And Mickey could write “Good morning it is 72º and sunny, and the Cowboys are working out early this morning....” and you’d say “Mickey nailed it again!!!”

How far does Caleb Farley have to fall for Jerry to draft him? What if he is there in the 2nd round when Dallas comes up?

Micah Parsons and Caleb Farley in the 1st and 2nd round? Is it possible?

Ok,
i’m good. I actually like Mickey. I understand what he does and who he works for. People
pick apart what he says because he’s so Blue and Silver that it does blur his vision. But he comes up with some good stuff that you aren’t hearing anywhere else sometimes!!!!
