If we can pick up an extra 2nd rounder AND still get horn that would be a home run.

1. Horn
2. LB
2. Safety
3. NT
I was kind of lukewarm on Horne because I thought he was overrated by some of the draftnicks because they got tired of looking at tape of Surtain. After watching some game tape of South Carolina and comparing his pro day results to Ramsey the guy has the talent to be one of the top cornerbacks in the league. I just don’t see him dropping to far behind Surtain. If we trade back to 15 I could see both Surtain and Horne going before we pick. I think the Eagles,Chargers and Vikings could have Surtain and Horne at the top of their board. The Farley injury killed our trade down potential in my opinion.

Yeah, I think both Surtain and Horn could be gone very early. If you want one of them, you’re probably going to have to take whichever one you choose at 10.

Both our better prospects then Henderson and he went number 9 to Jacksonville last draft. I have been saying it for weeks now I believe Surtain is drafted ahead of both Smith and Waddle.

Would be great Roy, but we'd have to be really lucky or give up more than 10

Here are some trade options that would work if we wanted an extra 2nd
  • 13 w/ LAC: 10, 75, and 115 for 13 and 47
  • 15 w/ NE: 10 and 75 for 15, 46 and 177
  • 16 w/ ARI: 10 and 99 for 16 and 49
  • 17 w/ LV: 10, 105 and 238 for 17 and 48....
  • 18 w/ MIA: 10 for 18 and 50......clean and perfect, but maybe too far down
MINN at 14 does not have a 2nd this year and anything earlier would not

If not there are plenty of other guys in that 15-25 range I wouldn't hesitate to make as my first pick. Guys I like Parsons if he makes it there, Barmore is one of my favorites, and then you still got Farley and Zaven Collins.

If there are truly 8 offensive players taken before the cowboys pick... We should without a doubt trade back.
The good news is a trade back to 15 or even further would net a future first rounder. A future first round in
this draft scenario is absolute gold. Almost every defensive player is still on the board. The team trading
up is probably going offense. If Dak and Lamb really catch stride next year, than Cowboys will never be
anywhere near a top ten pick for maybe a decade.

So let's trade down, grab Ojulari and a future first that might end up being a top ten!

Trading back is a good option for us. There will be several very good players, offensive and defensive players that would fall into our wheel house in rd 1 and give us better options in rd 2.
Horn, Barmore, JOK, Phillips, Collins, Moehrig, OJ, Newsome, Darrisaw, Vera-Tucker, even one of the WR's (no thanks)
Also even Slater and Parsons could still be available.
And lets not rule out Farley all together, he will still get drafted and probably still in rd 1.

Yep..

I like the idea of moving back and then getting more aggressive with our other picks.

I loved that scenario at first too, but honestly we have 10 picks in this draft. It will be real hard for 10 guys to make this roster, much less 11. I say take best player at 10, "hopefully a CB" then trade back up into late 1st or early second with other picks and try and grab another elite defender.

I think this should be the gameplan. Assuming only 2 defensive guys go top 10, there will undoubtedly be loads of talent still towards the end of the round. Let's jump back in and get the best player that falls. For all we know we could possibly get Moehrig... or even Micah Parsons or Farley or someone who slips based on off-field or medical.

At 10 they are all great players. You are afforded the luxury of getting a great player and a need.

Yeah. Had Farley not dropped it would have been different. Dallas could have traded back into the teens and got Horn. But now if you do it you're getting Farley.
