I still like how the Cowboys made up another chart for what was really for 2 reasons:
1) Jerry hated that the chart (that most teams use) is associated with Jimmy Johnson.
2) The team factored in the "Jerry Tax" so it would better reflect what Jerry would actually get in trades versus what most of the league perceived as real value.

True Story. I know one of the new chart's designers.

Who called who a moron? What did I miss?

@Ranching wanted to know who Jimmy was. Jimmy Johnson dated @Ranching's mom in the 60s, thus R's half brother Chelo. So @Corso shows us his Dr. Jakyll side and calls joking a moron.
Next up, Furboy has it out with @CowboyRoy.
Drama is healthy here, just like Housewives of New Jersey.
Quite right, mateys!

I think the points for the first few picks are too high. Is the #1 pick really better than 5 low first rounders?

This chart is great but in reality it should be updated every year based on the draft prospects. For instance, if there are 10 blue chippers this year, the drop off between pick 10 and 11 should be greater than in another year.

Jimmy Johnson had McCoy make this chart because he believed in getting the players he wanted and not letting the draft fall to you for a the Best Available Player. He always traded to draft and always drafted the Best Available Player of Need. See the 1991, and 1992 drafts. He wanted Maryland, Woodson, Kevin Smith, Kevin Williams, and Darrin Smith. He used the chart to traded up and down to get the Best Available Players of Need.

If you draft on the Best Available Player ignoring need and letting the draft fall to you, you will end up like the 2008 Lions with a bunch of 1st round WRs.

It cracks me up that the values haven't changed in 30 years. You know it isn't accurate, but teams still stick to it for most trades anyway.

Pretty much anything after the 3rd round is a guess, the Dak Prescotts and Tom Bradys are few and far between.

Yeah. So it's absurd to rank the 6th round picks so much more than 7th round. I'll take 6 7ths over 1 6 any day.

Jimmy jumped into a life raft just in time, the Dallas Cowboy Titanic with Jerry at the helm hit the Iceberg and sank not long after!

Pretty sure he was pushed. We can argue all day how long he would have coached in Dallas but I'm fairly certain that had Jerry not tried to get involved with "the fun stuff", Jimmy would have enjoyed the challenge of becoming the first 3-peat head coach in NFL history. The breaking point was an extension Jerry offered Jimmy after the second super bowl win that took away Jimmy's roster control.

But oh, those glorious 2008 Lions..........
