Crawford was always a great teammate and a versatile, useful piece on the defensive line. Not a star, just a solid player.

Don't hate him because he was overpaid. That was the Cowboys' fault for viewing him in an unrealistic light.

I want to thank him and wish him the best in the future.

Lol. Saying one thing in one post and then the opposite a few posts later. ‘Always fun’ as well. Just take the ‘L’ and move on already.

If anybody’s “crying” it’s people who can’t handle valid criticism of a monumental team mistake on a grossly overpaid player.
If it makes you feel good, I'll take it. I like to see the underdog feel good about themselves. Good job!

1988.

When did Alvin Harper (who’s name they state the house was in) even ENTER THE LEAGUE? 1991.

It’s clear you’re misreading something that isn’t there.
You clearly didn't read the article.
It says it all, from the Hoopsters to the White House.

But I'm sure you'll ask for something you can read yourself again.

Monumental? That's where you seemingly jump the shark. I'm sure if we thought for a bit we could come up with 20+ mistakes more monumental than re-signing him. They drafted him the same year they traded up for Claiborne. Just look at the drafts since- Gregory. Byron. Taco. Jaylon. Escobar. Chaz.

That's 7 worse (at best comparable) decisions and we haven't even talked FA yet.

Screw that @Bowdown27 let it flow man

Crawford was an overpaid guy who barely produced relative to his pay and the fact that he was for some dumb reason, untouchable.

dude just collected a paycheck for nothing the last 2 years.

I’m glad he is gone.

That’s great that him and D law are friends. No worries there. But I couldn’t care less about their buddy story. These are the same dudes who call themselves the hot Boyz while accomplishing Jack squat in the league.
I wouldn't say all that. He wasn't the best in the league but he played well. His biggest problem was coaching and management.

Talk about the $45 million WASTED. Particularly the $20 million down the drain the last two years. Then get back to me.

When an NFL footfall player fails to be awesome, it doesn't mean he didn't try his best. If he gets injured, it doesn't mean he wanted some time off. Crawford didn't deliberately attempt to frustrate Cowboy fans. If he was overpaid and failed to perform up to some standard, it's not his fault, nobody would turn down the money and tell the owner "No thanks, I'm not good enough". Blame management, not the player.

Tyrone Crawford was a Dallas Cowboy, we may be disappointed with his career but do we have to hate him? Do we have to exaggerate and say he did nothing? He had five solid seasons in his 8 year career, above the average for D-linemen drafted in the middle of the third round.

Tyrone was drafted in the 3rd round, #81 overall. Since 2000 there has been 41 D-linemen drafted between #75 and #85 overall. Among these D-linemen drafted in the same range, Tyrone ranks 8th in games started, 4th in sacks, and 6th in tackles for losses. He ranks 3rd among these players in QB hits.

Not every player is going to the Hall of Fame. The average career in the NFL is three and a half seasons. Crawford was an above average player, during some seasons he was really good.

Let's wish him the best.
What a great post. Thanks

actually you don't know what you're talking about, Crawford was the player that did a lot of the dirty work that allowed DLaw to be productive, that's been mentioned by folks around the organization.

I heard this many times, from coaches, FO, players, some in the media. And though probably true. But one wonders if it was said as a justification. But I will go with he players and coaches on this as well for the most part.

However, he still underperformed.
No one can tell me they could not have found a player to do the same thing and eventually could become a difference maker. Then again it shows the poor drafting over the years, as well, ignoring the DT position as we all know.

All the mid-round draft picks on DE's projects, that also could play DT were wasted, and we have 2 more on the roster that have not shown much. Well, one has not had a chance yet.

If you watch the stunts ran most of the time were run with D law and Crawford when Healthy with D law benefiting, it's been talked about .
I'm sure they do it all the time. But I've also seen entire games where DLAW gets doubled and Crawford and others are no where to be found being unable to win 1v1s

How much do you say he undergoes because of the contract they have him? If he didn't have the contract would you still say he underperform?

Yes, he never really seems to make a big difference. Yes he supposedly did the dirty work. But did the defense really show that. The defense has been weak for 20 years or more.
They had times they looked good, played well. But it was never feared.
Now that is not all on Crawford at all. But we as fans do not really know if he truly helped or not. But he never seemed to have. Other than the occasional sack. So therefore he gets the bad rap.

He is gone, so it really does not matter now.

How much money/resources/draft capital was wasted on the names I mentioned? You're missing the point. This isn't a defense of Crawford, it's putting him in perspective. You talk as though it's his contract that has held this team back. They've got bigger issues.
