Brown will be 25 in May.

Now how stupid is this post?

And his contract ends when? He is a veteran. An aging young veteran that will not be in control after this season. Hence he becomes more expendable.

Orlando brown is a better value than what they did last year in drafting a serviceable like running back in the first round.

Brown will likely move to left tackle with remmers or another player at right tackle.

OK who is the Ravens LT? I guess is what I am wondering. Edit: Ah I see Stanley kept getting hurt so that is why Brown was always starting there.

Stanley got hurt last year the week after they signed him to an extension, so they're stuck with him for better or worse.

Kansas City gets: Brown, a 2021 second-round pick (No. 58) and a 2022 sixth-round pick

Baltimore gets: a 2021 first-round pick (No. 31), a third-round pick (No. 94), a fourth-round pick (No. 136) and a 2022 fifth-round pick

Wow all that for Brown?

The ravens had and probably will have the least amount of pass attempts per game so I’m pretty sure they’ll be able to find guys to get in and run block for them. Instead of paying a guy who wants to be paid like a top left tackle you get a a couple draft picks you have slotted in for the next 5 years. Great move by Baltimore!

Seems like a move out of necessity for the chiefs. But giving up a pick for a high priced guy who has only proved himself in an offense completely opposite of yours seems too risky. But Andy Reid almost always has one of the better olines. So I’d trust hom

Nm, I got him mixed up. I agree with your point. I'd rather have a young known quantity than take my chances in the draft, at 31.
As would I. You don't get the luxury of him being on a cheap deal for 4 years but you also don't have to worry about him being a bust either.

They have sucked for the last several years. 3 or 4 years. Their last dominant year was Dak and Zeke’s rookie year.
We can sit here and argue about how "dominant" they are but the poster said the game was won in the trenches and the Cowboys offensive line has been good enough to win whether you think they are dominant or not.

The Chiefs first or second round pick is not garbage. Good teams don't get so emotionally attached to their players. They weighed their options and understood that they could have pushed Brown into playing this year upset at his role and in the final year is his deal.

Now Baltimore gets immediate pick compensation and better than the compensatory pick. Cowboys fans should be green with envy at how their front office and scouting department is looking forward and always willing to flip an aging veteran for a quality pick. Baltimore rarely picks a player with major injury history or major character questions with picks in rounds 1-3. Because that's what stupid teams do. You pick quality picks especially in rounds 2 and 3 to abuse the slug heads.
Nothing to envy with the Ravens....their front office has been flawed just like ours has.

But not nearly as flawed for the past 20 ish years. It's absurd to even entertain that the FO and scouting department for Baltimore is on par with Dallas'.

Since 2000, they have two SB titles, 4 conference title appearances, 13 playoff appearances, and 6 division titles while sharing divisions with the at one time very good Tennessee Titans and now Pittsburgh. They also played in the same conference as the Patriots during their reign.

They routinely make good draft decisions and typically stay away from large money contracts for subpar talent. They will not reach on players with injury and character concerns. They prefer a well balanced and stocked roster vs a shiny new offensive toy that rarely gives you enough bang for your draft bucks. I don't know why you would feel comfortable trying to compare the front offices. They don't.

I think the difference between Brown and Villanueva is bigger than this guy thinks. If the drop off wasnt much, Villanueva wouldn't be a FA a week before the draft

I think the Ravens have had a deal in place for a while with Villanueva. The Ravens are waiting until after the draft so they don’t lose a comp pick signing him.

Signing Villanueva earlier would have lowered the value of Brown.

Interesting tidbit on Villanueva. He was drafted by Philly and cut his 1st year. Stealers picked him up.

fact, freeing up future money for LJ payday..

still questionable move when i thought the trenches are where you build and as young and good as this guy is, how can you let jhim go? drfat picks dont fill holes like an already young stud would..counting on finding another brown with any of those picks is risky..i realize he forced his way out wanted to be LT but if this was just money why not Ravens say hey play RT but we will pay you like a LT if you continue to prove you are elite level..

doesnt make a lot of sense if this was simply money over positional move. Thats easily fixable.

I think the Ravens are in the better position after this trade. Ravens have options. Ravens can use the Chiefs’ 3rd and/or 4th to trade up and maybe get Darrisaw or maybe even Slater. Ravens will sign Villanueva long term.

Ravens lose Brown but sign Villanueva and could use Chiefs’ 1st, 3rd, and 4th on OL if they wanted. Chiefs could have used their 3rd and 4th rd picks to move up and take Darrisaw maybe.

Chiefs made a risky move in my opinion. Brown is in a contract year. If he plays well, he will want top buck for an OT, maybe $18-20M/year. Brown’s antics forcing the Ravens to trade him is a red flag to me. Screams drama queen and he might pull some crap if Chiefs franchise him. If Brown tears something during the season like an ACL, then the Chiefs are in a world of crap.

Got to take gambles in the NFL. We will see how it plays out. My money is on the Ravens getting the better deal.

I’m not talking about the past 20 years. I’m talking recent memory especially since Ozzie Newsome has given up his title. They’ve been flawed. Going back 20 years to prove they haven’t been is as silly as me going back 26 years to prove the Cowboys haven’t been flawed.

That's only two years of data. Ozzie's era is still being carried on. I'm not sure what has been so flawed for the past 2 years with regards to their front office.

They picked up Campbell and Ngakoue for peanuts. Got good value when they traded away Hayden Hurst. They again were one of the top teams in defense (2nd behind LA in points allowed per game). They made the playoffs again and beat a good Tennessee team and then couldn't score against Buffalo (but had a very good defensive effort). Or are you talking more recent. Like in the past few minutes?
