Dream on brother.
Thats a massive overpay by New England. Has not happened in 15 years

now, if we traded down to 18 or so? Yes, we could get a 2nd

There's a premium for QBs. A 1st and 2nd are peanuts for a franchise QB.

Never a massive overpay when a team comes up for a qb. You’ll see Thursday night. Look what San Fran gave up to move up 9 spots.

Yeah but there is a qb tax. If you want your qb, pay up, or we'll take a solid player at 10. I'd want more than a 2nd if I'm losing out on one of the CBs, Sewell, etc.

Yes
If theyre willing to part with their 2nd, then for sure the make that offer to Detroit at 7

there is no chance we would get 15 and 46 for 10.
But maybe if we threw in a later pick or two
If they are desperate for a quarterback who knows.

I would probably just set still at #10 and when their on the clock if Sewell is there you take him if not than Surtain if hes gone just take Horn.
One of those 3 will BE THERE !!!

Yeah most teams go by some form of that old chart and rarely deviate from that unless desperate or picking like top 3. If one team refuses or doesn't think it's enough, they'll just go to a team that doesn't.
Bingo

I keep trying to tell people.
I reviewed every trade for a decade
Never say never, I guess, but I feel 99% sure we would not get 15 and 46 for 10 straight up.

We Cowboy fans for some reason always seem to think we can get deals that no other team can....and in this case, that Jerry is going to fleece Belichick.
Would be nice though!

Huh ? .. i'm not quite understanding what you mean.
With what the future new league TV contract is expected to heighten roster caps for NFL teams for years to come ?
why we should be so paranoid regarding drafting high round players, because you're already worried about future cap issues ?

With this logic we might as well package the rest of our No1's and 2's into one player because you think we won't have enough cap
dollars to re-sign players.

The core players the Cowboys are vastly interested in re-signing, we get them re-signed. It's just a matter of what players the Cowboys
consider core players. Absolute must-re-sign players.
Right, but im looking at the idea of not being able to afford to put so much into one position....one where even the great ones give up their share of yardage.

The expanded cap is all relative, and all teams get it. It will not allow Dallas an advantage over anyone else.

The idea of spreading cap dollars around at least semi evenly is something I hope the team is in favor of by SOP.

I'm talking about using two premium picks (by a team that uses ONLY the draft to acquire premium talent) on the same position in consecutive years.

You either ignore the idea of spreading cap dollars evenly or know you'll lose one of the two to a second contract.

Only thing that might be in our favor is the panthers would probably want more than the second to drop to 15. I would imagine they would want a future 1st or any team ahead of them. Dream scenario for a trade down is both lance and fields make it to 8 then you’ll see something happen because there is no way one of those guys would make it past Philly so teams would want to trade up to ten to take him and no they wouldn’t wait for the giants pick they would deal with us prior they wouldn’t want to lose out to another team trading with Dallas. Also everyone is still sleeping on Davis Mills who I think is the best QB in the draft after Lawrence and I could definitely see him having a better career than him too. I think he doesn’t get past the bears at 20 and I could see saints jumping in front of them to land Mills.
A future 1st is valued (in trade circles) in the range of pick 41-45 this year.

I personally would draft Fields if he is there at #10.

I think the defense will be fine this year with the FA additions and adding some defensive players in rounds 2-7.

I don’t think adding one defensive player at #10 in this draft will change the defense that much.

Drafting Fields provides a backup right away and pushes Dak to play his best. Can always trade Fields at a later date if not needed. I am not sold on Dak being able to lead the team to the SB just because he got paid.

Jimmy brought Walsh in. Even said he would go to the airport to pick him up. Psyops at its best.
Magic beans.

Talking about draft day trades for picks only.
The study we did covered every single trade the last decade.
Outside of the top 2-3 picks, teams stayed glued to the charts, regardless of position.
Thestudy did not go back more than 15 years.
He’s arguing against himself at this point. Sometimes it’s good to just say, “wow I guess I was wrong that one” and keep it pushing lol.

If we can get the Pats' 2nd rounder by dropping 5 spots to #15 and still get Horn, that's a no brainer.
They want a QB and I want more draft capital than that.
Not a ton more, but more. Yes, that's greedy but QB's cost over slot in trade value chart.

I'd go something like 10+75+227, 15+46+2022R1
Pats get a franchise QB that likely has to sit 1 year but DAL gets more value in what is considered a stronger draft 2022.

Because this is considered a 12-13 player draft moving down below that is scary unless the reward is high.

If we gave them 10 and 75, sure, they might give us 15 and 46...and maybe even throw in a 6th
Draft value charts don't apply to QB picks.
The solid R1 grade cut off this year is above player/pick 15.

If the Pats don't offer 15 and 46 worth of value, DAL doesnt even take the call.

Well, they have the last 15 years.....outside of the top 3 picks
Even for Mahomes...at 10
Don't shoot the messenger

and, btw, thats fine if Dallas just stays put. Takes two to trade and if they want WAY over mkt value it basically means they are staying put.

NE can just make that same offer to Detroit or Carolina. They know Dallas isnt taking a QB

If that guy was Trey Lance, I do it. I like that kid a lot! I mean, really like him.
