What round do you think he will go in?
Late first or early second I think
Most teams want DT’s so I don’t think the two of them fall too far
But the fact you don’t see a DT mocked anywhere in the top half of the first is pretty rare and says a lot about this DT class

Your point on McNeil is one of the reasons i'm not against trading down. We have specific holes, where we really struggle.... run blocking/pocket collapsing DT, FS and a CB.

We arent looking necessarily looking for a 3 down 3-tech DT, nor a Safety that can play in the slot....we can focus on players strengths. eg I dont care McNeil doesnt get to the QB, I just want him to occupy the O-Line/push the pocket and create gaps for Gregory, Gallimore/Hill, Tank, Neal and Jaylon.

Look at Holland for instance, he'd possibly go first round if he had the body to play in the slot.....well we wouldnt be playing him there, we're already stacked at that position, we need a FS so the VALUE to us is in his FS play, which could well be graded in 1st round.
So many want what we once had which was a dominant D line that set the tempo. Fact is that is extremely hard to get in this day and age. Only two or three teams in the NFL have that. Sometimes you have to set your sights a little lower. As much as I would LOVE to get another Lilly or Manster or even Lett there are none available. Yet I do NOT want to reach for the best of what is there.

Unless a starting T or Pitts is there at 10, I'm trading down. Plenty of big bodies for 1 & 3 techs in later rds, as well as depth at LB, Edge, and CB2.

In most of my fools gold mocks I wind up trading down, and taking Moehrig near 20, and stacking big needs in later rds.

What are your thoughts? I'm insanely excited for tomorrow guys. There's a lot of talent on the defense this year. This is the rare moment I'm optimistic. I'm just scared about getting QB2 in the draft. It's a glaring issue.

I expect a boring night.

Horn will get picked by Carolina..

Dallas will select Surtain.

Boring.

Problem is the tape shows LVE not making gaps as he's lost in backing up due to the holes .....and that was against the WFT, not the greatest running team. The effects of not stopping the run means the whole LB corp is commited and compromised on the run.

Not stopping the run means we are continually playing 3rd and short which our defense cannot handle especially with the variety of plays available to an offense. Need to create longer 3rd downs (with an improved secondary) IMO.

Me too. I'd rather have 3 picks in the first 2 rounds than 2, even if it means we don't get a top two corner. I don't think those two are so good that they can bridge the gap of having that extra player instead.

LOL!! I hear ya. It has a shot at some excitement. Lets say no one trades out of 1-6. There's a chance that happens. Now we have 2 out of the top 5 QBs between rounds 7-9. That would be an exciting scenario.

I'm staying!!! Unless someone could magically promise me one of the top CBs would still be there

He’s Atleast as good a prospect
But won’t likely fall to 44 and he’s not as good a prospect as with Horn or surtain
I just don’t want to draft a position
I want to draft really good players
We have 10 picks and all 10 aren’t making the team
I’d be leveraging some to add another second round pick
DT, CB, LB, DE are all positions we need
Adding another second is very possible with an extra 3 and 4 even if you have to throw in a future 3
Then we can get really good prospects at 3 of those
I think it's probable he drops. At least I hope. His production dropped off last season, but that was really Florida's fault. They ran a lot of 3 man fronts, and he's not built for that.

I love that so many are Horn > Surtain.

That is how you're supposed to draft. If it's close.. And it's close.. You take the upside.
I like the dog in him, and he seems to have better instincts. I dunno why, man. When I watch the tape I just like him more.

Every draft the discussions and scenarios spill out. Draft this guy, trade down and get more picks, etc. We should always remember that the draft is one of the most over-hyped sporting events ever. More than 50% of the players drafted on all teams will never start an NFL game, and over 70% of those drafted on day 3 will not even be on an NFL roster in 4 years.

I know it’s the most important way to improve your team and lord knows this team really needs talent at multiple positions. But history says most of the players fans are salivating over drafting won’t amount to much over a few years.

I respect that many fans love the draft as much as any part of the NFL calendar. I’m always interested in the draft and certainly recognize it’s importance. But it’s more hype than substance. JJ and SJ love to talk year round. But they especially love to talk before the draft. It builds excitement and fan anticipation. The Jones boys are probably the NFL’s best at creating excitement.

Cause Surtain looks like a tall robot that's stiff when the ball is in the air.

He's going to be good but he's the type of corner this franchises fans always ends up hating.

Horns going to be on TV barking at guys and making plays while Surtain is just a guy that nobody ever thinks about cause he never does anything.

Lets have some fun for a change at that position and get a guy that's super talented and a risk taker.

I don't think either of them are pick 10 talent though. :( Unless OT, or Pitts is there, I hope we trade down, and stack picks.

I think we're going to pick a stud corner at 10, although I'll concede that Kwity Paye may be there at 10 and has enough flop potential to scare me but pique Jerry's interest.

I think safety is deep enough that you can pick another position in round 1, and still get a good safety later on. This draft is thin at LB after round 1 Trade down in 1, and up in 2 to get a CB - LB combo, excellent BPA's at both spots! DT and S in round 3, if the talent is still there. Otherwise, BPA.
