Neal can be in a rotation with LVE, Jaylon, Micah in the standard 4-3. I can see even all 4 on the field at times. Then depending what the offense shows, Neal can drop back into a S spot. They can play a 3-4 or drop Neal back as the 5th DB.
Or they can have him and 2 of the 3 LB's in, as a 4-3. Then he can drop back as well if need be.
Or play the standard 3-4 or drop him back to play the 4-2-5 as been talked about.
I am not sure if this is part of Quinn's defense, but just a thought.

They can have many options. As long as it is not too complex. However they will have OTA's and mini camps to install that this year, unlike last year.

He comes on the field on pass downs and Jaylon and Parsons come off the field unless they need a blitzer.

Should of designated him as a June 1st cut within the 5 days of the start of the new year.
His salary is guaranteed now for 2021, making a cut much more painful this year.
Agreed. If anything you keep him and hope you get solid LB play between the 4. Maybe the acquisitions of Parson and Neal will push Jaylon and LVE back to 2018 form.

Can we see how Smith and LVE play in the new scheme before we throw them to the curb, maybe? I mean, both were fantastic just 3 seasons ago. They’ve shown they can play and play very well. Just think how our LB corp would look now if they returned to form.

And their poor contract management/player evaluation has the trickle down effect of forcing the Cowboys to use all their picks to fill holes (Stephen confirmed that yesterday) instead of having the flexibility to package and move up to grab talent.

The mistake people will make is assuming parsons is a finished product. He lacks experience and probably starts in a sub package/rotational role. Neal/LVE/Jaylon are most likely our starters in the base D.

of course injuries and other situations probably adjusts this to some extent.

He may not be a finished product, but I don’t think you pick a guy at 12 and not start him and play him a majority of the snaps.

We signed him to play WLB, they said. But with Parsons, does he move back to SS?

I’d like anybody to attempt to step up and explain where they play all these linebackers we’re heavily invested in?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Sounds like the true ‘mistake people made’ were those inside the building, investing heavily in a group of players they’ll never get proper return from.

It's not the position on D I'd like to be heavy on, but a 1 year $5m deal for Neal isn't that much of an investment IMO.

There will be an injury or two for stretches of games and he will be active on passing down packages, that's fine w/ me.
