In fairness I'm getting my info off of a ton of various podcasts and don't know it to be fact, but the talk all along has been that it's farther back than we want to go.

Pats deal was really interesting as it was supposed to also involve various players on expiring contracts. I cant believe they just sat there and still got a QB.
The Bears likely gave up less to trade with the Giants given the draft positions.

The Hoodie's patience paid off.

For all of you who constantly whine about Jerry always getting fleeced—the trade value chart indicates that we got very good trade value in the trade down and “won the trade”. That is all. Thank you. Take care.

Chalk up another April "win" for Jerry, at least on paper. Those wins in January and February, on the field, have been far more elusive.

Is there a Jerry Apologetics class somewhere? Some of y'all seem to have aced it.

I disagree, the Eagles should have given us their entire draft for 2021-2025

That is a very Arlington Jonesboys analysis. Here is the reality of Jerry Dumbo GM Jones.

1. Cowboys dropped out of the top 10 trading with a division rival. Would not a division rival pay more for a trade up?
2. Somebody should have called Chicago.
3. Why Will McClay was not next to Jerry and Stephen in the War Room or at least next to the Big Blue M&M? Why the hell is you VP of Player Personnel doing next to VP Branding Officer (Charlotte)
4. Your division Rival takes your pick and drafts a Top 10 WR and you did not trade back in the draft at no. 19 or 20 to select Caleb Farley a CB with the speed to stop a Top 10 WR?
5. I saw this before when the Cowboys traded down for 3rd round pick drafting a WR and came out a draft needing defense with a C, TE, and WR. None of those players are on the team but the C was Pro Bowler (but still gone). However your defense falls to the 2020 level of one of the worst in NFL history and the worst defense in Cowboys history.

You did all the above for a 3rd round pick with the following players on the draft board at and after no.20 that NY got no.20, a 5th, 2021 no.1, and 4th round picks:
32) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Joe Tryon, LB, Washington
31) Baltimore Ravens (from KC) – Jayson Oweh, DE, Penn State
30) Buffalo Bills – Gregory Rousseau, DE, Miami
29) Green Bay Packers – Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia
28) New Orleans Saints – Payton Turner, DE, Houston
26) Cleveland Browns – Greg Newsome II, CB, Northwestern
23) Minnesota Vikings (from NYJ through SEA) – Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech
22) Tennessee Titans – Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech
21) Indianapolis Colts – Kwity Paye, DE, Michigan

If your VP of Player Personnel was next to the Executive VP Director of Player and not the Branding Chief Officer, you could have come out the first round with Parsons and Farley and still had a 2nd round pick to draft Jabril Cox.

You trade to get who you need and want and not to get to get a draft pick.

This was a panic move to get a draft pick after Horn and Surtain went 8 and 9. I know this, because trading up for either, would only cost a 3rd round pick according to Jerry Dumbo GM Jones. Parsons was my top rated Defensive player in this draft with normal top 5 value. However, he was going to fall or go after the CBs because of the hazing issue at PSU. He could have stayed on the board until 18.

Jerry got fleeced again as he does not having Gil Brandt, Bob Ackles, John Wooten, and Jimmy Johnson's trading instincts or strategy for personnel and drafting after 30 years. The man is a business guy and not a football guy.

Yeah but coulda had the Chicago trade which was definitely the better trade down. Should’ve done that and then either traded up a little for parsons or Collins or sat put and taken Phillips stokes or Barmore or even Farley

The trade itself might have been fine.

The trade the Giants got was better.

Why didn't they make the deal with the Bears?

Why didn't we draft Fields and entertain offers?

Those were better options, IMO.
Draft Fields and entertain offers??? Really!

When has that ever happen? Not to mention as someone comes along and take a guy you needed.

Exactly, we only moved down two spots. Either the Giants or Eagles were going to get Smith anyway. So, at least we got an extra 3rd and one of the players we wanted all along. It was a win-win except for the Giants. Jerry did nothing wrong here. It was nice to get another 3rd to take a player we wanted. Essentially, we got a free extra 3rd round pick.

Actually I knew we needed a CB HOWEVER all day reading tweets from around the league they kept saying picks 8 and 9 might be CB and CB
so I expected it and at that point I kept thinking we should pick Micah Parsons hes probably a plug-in defensive player that will help big-time on
the defense. Can be scary for RB's with him 6'3" 246 lbs coming up to help defend the run and a 4.39 guy at that !!!

Even if you do not like the trade for whatever reason saying we got fleeced would be an overcreaction.

Did we get the best defensive player on the board? Yes
Did we pickup a 3rd round pick? Yes

Not sure how we lose here unless you just hate parsons. They followed their board that's all I can ask.

I like getting the 84th pick to move back two slots, that was a win for the Cowboys, the Parsons pick not so much!

I like Parsons a lot actually. He's excellent against the run, and he's a solid pass rusher. The draft analysts on ESPN last night called him the best defencive player in the draft. Michael Irvin certainly looked excited. Our players seemed happy. So, I'm happy.

Some didn't get the Olineman they wanted which is ok.. it happens. But a putrid and disastrous D was in need of a huge injection of talent on all fronts and the team adds a nice piece to the puzzle and people are this upset about it? I don't think putrid and disastrous really do it any justice... pathetic, catastrophic, horrendous.. anyone feel free to keep adding!!! lol Real defense used to mean something! This has been a top tier offense for a little while already? And 8-8.. The Usual..

This D has been a complete joke! And people are still willing to ride that out!! You can name 2nd rounders until you're blue in the face. This D needs playmakers at every level on a very lopsided roster. And he had better value than Slater on many boards so it's not just value. Both guys hovering around the same neighborhood in every mock draft or "expert analysis".

Trade was a large win in trade value on the Jimmy chart and still a win on the more conservative ones.
It's a bigger win on the other charts, which see the dropoff from 10 to 12 as small and see much greater relative value in 2nd and 3rd rounders than the JJ chart does.

Trades down will always look better by the more modern charts.

Exactly. We need defence. We got the best player on that side of the ball, and we got an extra 3rd for our troubles. This is GOOD. If we can at least get our defence to be mediocre, we can go far in the playoffs. This defence isn't getting fixed in one draft. If we can at least be better against the run and hold teams to an average of 15-20 points per game vs the 30+ we have up last season, our offense has the power to carry us. That's exactly what we did last night at LB. We still have plenty of picks to fix more areas of defence. No need to panic. Just be happy we addresses a major area of need.

This is a nonsense, goofball take.
I wasn't thrilled with the Parsons selection but the trade value was WELL Above board and trading down to 12 versus 20 isn't even in the same universe.
DAL picked LB1 and at 20 they would have had access to LB4.

The guy they took at 12 was the guy they would have taken at 10.
