this is just pure click bait on cowboys hate...thats all it is. Anyone with half a brain understands that

1) we got the best LB in the draft
2) we got an extra 3rd round pick for moving just 2 spots back
3) the defense just got a lot better on the second level

check, check, check. There is nothing not to like about this pick (at this moment)....

if they take the 2nd and 3 3rds they have and turn them into a grand total of 5 top 100 picks, this team is going to be substanitally better over night.....with what we have left in terms of draft capital, it is totally possible.

I agree, but that narrative doesn’t sell nationally among the clickbaiting “journalists”. The army of trolls that have infected this forum don’t like it either.

We had bad LB play last year, though there were other contributing factors there too. However, half this fan base is ready to run Jaylon and LVE out of town. This was the best possible pick to make after our corner targets were off the board.

I like the pick and the extra 3rd rounder we got. 5 possible players in the top 3 rounds can really help this team.

Every loser media type gives out their grades before the player has even stepped out on the field for practice. He could be a bust but, I think not!
I don't know much about him...even though I am a tOSU fan. I do know skipping a year is not good. And Penn State hasn't played in many "big" games. barely vieing for a B1G championship let alone NCAA.

This moves my meter more toward "project" side than "stud" side. I am slightly disappointed. But...it is what it is now we'll see! Hoping for the best.

Good chance Chicago drafts in the top 10 next year, and out side shot at TOP 5? Not sure, what Chicago team you have been watching, but it certainly isn't the one everyone else is. Chicago has one of the top D's in football despite not having a QB that could stretch the field if there lives depended on it, and constantly keeping the defense on the field. And they upgraded at QB already with Andy Dalton. And that doesn't even take into account if Fields is the real deal.

This talk about Chicago being a bad team, is beyond ludicrous.
Yes, there's ludicrous, then there's beyond that....

That's the category that the Andy Dalton led Bears being not so good falls into?

I very much hope I'm wrong since our rivals are holding that pick. See you in a year.

Meanwhile, go Bears!

I agree to this. Good players don't just come in in the first five picks. You have to be very adept with EVERY pick...if you can squeeze an extra one in the upper rounds....it could mean as much or more than a single top 5.

No he doesn’t.. He plays sideways and downhill.

Everything else is a gigantic work in progress.

You guys hate Jaylon Smith but want to cheer on a player who does the same things well on the field that Jaylon Smith can actually do.

Yes, in the modern NFL, true sideline to sideline LB's, that can keep up with the athletic QB's is a MUST....

I don't know where you got this idea that a modern NFL LB, plays in coverage most of the time....

Jerry already said that he had the highest grade on their board. Not some ESPN board. They decided they needed defensive help and needed to help their
new DC. The talking media heads think they know everything but, no nothing really. They just flap their gums and let gas bombs. Losers all.
This draft will be judged on today
This is where we win or lose
This is where we have the ammo to get anyone we want
Today is the scouts and Jerry’s day to shine or crash and burn
He can’t sit back
He needs to get aggressive and go get the guys they want

You think Andy Dalton is worse than Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles? Sorry, while I am not saying that Andy Dalton is a super star, or even a legit NFL Starting QB. I would certainly put him as an improvement over Trubisky and Foles. The Bears where painful to watch last year, because they couldn't move the ball. But they have Allen Robinson at WR's who is the real deal. They just need a QB who can get him the football. Andy Dalton is nothing more than someone who can drive the bus. Not someone who will win you any games. But noone Chicago had last year could keep the bus on the road, much less drive the bus.

Agreed, plus with no combine, limited opportunity to work out players, players sitting out, and many programs limiting games scouting is much tougher. I presume there will be more 1st round busts and more gems to be found later on in this draft.

The guy can't take one step into The Star before the critics arrive......Welcome Parsons.

Cowboys could have drafted the worst ranked player in the draft at no. 10 and I'd have the same attitude - I'll give them a chance...

We added S/LB Neal and now Parsons, and we may not be done yet. I also think Jaylon and LVE will have bounce back years under Quinn, and Bernard and Gifford could also provide more. Suffice it to say I feel much better about out LBer group in 2021.

With Fields in the fold and trouble in Rodgersland, there may be a shift coming in the NFCN.

It's time for LVE & Jaylon to fish or cut bait. I suspect these guys better move their feet or they may be looking for a new team next year. Take a look at the Parson's tape and look at some early
film of Lawrence Taylor and see if there's a resemblance to you guys.

So, a bunch of talking heads, some of whom are fantasy football “analysts” and dudes no one has heard of and then they even went to random Twitter “quick hits” for some opinions.

This show gets a F+ grade from me in my “draft experts” review.

We just took a position that doesn’t hold much value.
Yet it was the one position that got the most heat and hate on this bird for the last 15 months.

you can say that in some algorithm linebacker has 99.2% of the value of a CB and a DT has only 98.7% of a CBS value and all trail an edge rusher ....

But that’s just Internet pretend analysis.

Cowboys needed a LB. Lee is retired and LVE is a huge question Mark.

I would have loved to get Surtain or Horn but they weren’t available. We went with the best defensive player available when our pick came up, so it’s hard to argue with that

This could be debated all day.

I'll leave it with saying that since the Giants are holding that pick, we will all be watching especially close.

I just don't see them as any good. Unless Rodgers goes down they aren't winning that division, and if the Vikings decide they want to play the Bears are buried.

What if the very immobile Dalton goes down? Fields isn't ready to step in and blow up the league.

Look, it's definitely a lottery ticket, but I see it as a good bet.

Hopefully Parsons play makes this very moot, and the Bears win 10 plus games.

Let's see.

Agreed, my take was WORST case for Chicago, where they have go roll with Dalton, because Fields isn't up to it.

But, if Fields is the real deal, as I would be shocked if he isn't. You put a playmaker at QB, even one who turns the ball over to much. With Chicago's D. Even without trouble in Rogersland, there is likely a shift coming in the NFCN.

Do you know how to help your run defense??

Beef up front... if your losing in the trenches like we were with our smaller/weaker DTs your gonna have your LBs swimming with olinemen on them.

Getting another new exciting LB who can run sideline to sideline is cool but if he’s having to fight off linemen all game he won’t be free to make plays.

Never forget when Ray Lewis all but told the ravens to draft Ngata because he needed beef in front of him to allow him to make plays

You do know we added Urban along the DL this offseason right? That guy is a PLUS rated run defender (not great as a pass rusher).

IMO— with Jaylon’s softness, LVE’s injury history, and Lee’s retirement... LBer is a bigger need than DT. I hope we add a DT before round 5– but getting Parsons makes this D faster, more aggressive, and deeper.
