Jerry did not get fleeced in a trade

The trade itself might have been fine.

The trade the Giants got was better.

Why didn't they make the deal with the Bears?

Why didn't we draft Fields and entertain offers?

Those were better options, IMO.

You trade with the Bears, and you miss out on an elite defensive player in Parsons.

Had Parson's played this year, he wouldn't have available at 10, he is a TOP 5 Pick.

He has a track record of getting fleeced in trades. Joey galloway, Roy williams, Morris claiborne.

People are still angry about that.
I don’t think he got fleeced in those trades
The JG trade was reasonable if your QB was gonna be there a few more years
RW was the worst because he wasn’t under contract and simply wasn’t elite and they thought he was
Mo wasn’t a bad pick. The best CB in that draft class on paper. But it didn’t work out that way
I can’t really judge things looking back
At the time I hated the RW trade mostly because it also required a big contract. MO I thought wasn’t a bad trade because he was a great prospect and we needed a CB really bad. The JG was a dumb trade because they should have known we would soon need a QB. Not smart going all in for a weapon for a QB that cost you the picks to replace that QB
Not really the deals but the decision to make those deals. The prices were just the price, the decisions were the mistake

If we would have traded with CHI, we'd be whining that we traded out of premier players for a spin on the roulette table next year and getting a lesser player this year.

I like the trade for NYG and it's sure enticing because CHI may suck, but if we would have done it, we'd probably either have Paye on this team or getting Newsome and people saying we got sloppy seconds.

Either NYG or PHI was getting Smith - we got a free 3rd rounder out of it knowing he's staying in the division. Better to profit off it vs. do nothing especially if we can use #84 effectively.

Cowboys definitely won the trade and picked the player they would have chosen anyway. The fact is was the Eagles doesn't bother me because unless the Cowboys picked Smith themselves he was going to the Giants or Eagles anyway. Just would have preferred taking Slater at 12 or for them to have done the Bears trade instead.

Exactly, no matter who we picked, some posters were going to complain. Heck, if we had stayed put and taken Parsons and Philly got Smith, posters would complain we didn't trade down. At least with this, we got a free pick.

How do you know he's a playmaker? He didn't really show that at Penn St. IMO. 6.5 Sacks in his career, not really a lot. No INTs, a decent amount of tackles, 191, but outside of that, not a lot. Great athlete, but production doesn't really match ability there.

Come on 5 sacks in 2019. I like how you add them together. Like he didn't progress. 14 TFL in 2019. 109 tackles and a FR, There's enough tape to know this kid is a very good LB! Great athlete, great motor, great ceiling. They got a good defensive football player.

Some complain about everything
We made the right trade to help the team now and in the future and saved us from being in a position we might have had to pay LVE 9 mil next year

And here's the thing: if Parsons is an annual Pro Bowl player, the posters who complained about him will stay silent and sing his graces like revisionist history. If he's not, it will be 'I told ya so' on the daily in here.

Taking Parsons was the right move with how the board was laid out for us. Getting a 3rd is the cherry on top.

I would argue that today's picks are going to matter MUCH more than what we did yesterday.

Agreed, especially with ALL of the best safeties still on the board, arguably some of the best CBs in the draft still on the board, and the best DTs, especially 1T, are still on the board. Another reason it's NICE to have gotten a free pick in the top 100.

That is 2 years worth of stats not 3 or 4

What Giants got should be better, they were trading down from 20 to 11. The Eagles over payed Dallas to move up two spots to get who they wanted. But for Dallas, what they offered the Giants sucked golf balls through a garden hose. They offered some trash and a first rounder next year. How does that help the Cowboys this year?

The Fields idea is an interesting one, but risky. Which is why we rarely see it done. He made it to the 10th pick, what do we hope to get for him? How much more will Chicago give us? And now we don't have Parsons, we have a backup QB.

That's not comparable at all? I see, well, it's your story, you tell it.

I never said I hoped to do anything. That's you spinning that tale. I said I thought you could have gotten more out of Philly to move up into the top 10. They have more picks then they can use so yeah, I'm pretty sure we could have. Lastly, you haven't said one thing in this thread that makes a lot of sense. You, my friend, are not the standard to which I look to, on all things argument. But everybody is entitled to opinion so there you go. You have yours and I clearly have mine.
What I don't understand is: why are you "pretty sure" we could have gotten more out of them when the history of trades is pretty crystal clear about what you can expect to get for a move like this, and it's not more.

Come on What? Like whatever you want, or don't. I don't care, at all, what you think of the stats. They are what they are. Would it be better if I said, 5 sacks in 2019, 3 of the 5 came against Rutgers and Memphis? No sacks against Iowa, Michigan, Michigan St. or Ohio St.? I mean, the stats are the stats. I didn't make them up and they are all there for everybody to see.

The question was, "what makes you think he's a play maker". Maybe stop crying about the stats and just answer the question. Have you actually watched him or are you just talking smack because I have. He's a good tackler, although I do see him run himself out of plays and he has the same issue I see with LVE and Smith, which is, he doesn't scrape or stack all the time. He's another run and chase LB, which we have a lot of. He's a Bobby Wagner in our scheme IMO and that's fine but that guy is not the 12th overall pick in the draft IMO. That guy is a 2nd or 3rd or 4th round guy.

We'll see what happens with Parsons but to me, it's more of the same. We don't understand how to invest wisely and build a team, going on 30 years now.

Was thinking that may happen as soon as both corners were selected. I can't imagine the Bears and Cowboys didnt talk, but at the end of the day the Cowboys felt the 3rd rounder this year and likely getting one of their defensive targets was the better way to go.
I also think it cost less draft capital for the Bears to trade with the NYG.
