This guy is a game-wrecker, and was the BPA.
And, yes he has the speed/versatility to play in the passing game -- man coverage, and quickness in dropping back into coverage.
Notwithstanding the fact, the dude is also a tackling machine, with a pass rush to add in his arsenal.
To get an extra 3rd round pick, plus this guy -- solid move.
An impact player that will be a valuable asset for the franchise.

I am amazed that people are actually upset having watched this team defend the run the last 2 years are mad at picking the number 1 rated run defender in the draft lol.
I’m not. I said before the draft that no matter what the Cowboys did the usual haters were going to crap on it. Several of them have done so in this thread alone. Same posters all the time. Same exact thing will happen after tonight and tomorrow.

Horn is whom I wanted. Just not sold on Surtain being an better than Diggs.
However, this draft is very deep in corners, so we may get a guy even more successful in a couple years, certainly not a huge drop off.

I don’t care if Parsons can cover or not. He is elite sideline to sideline vs the run, and he’s an excellent pass rusher. In his pro bowl year, LVE was excellent in pass coverage, but he wasn’t as involved at MLB. I love this pick as it gives us a true MLB and allows LVE to play to his strengths.

There are plenty of CBs, safeties, and DTs left, but I would love Carlos Basham in round 2.
^this, day 1. AND I expect us to double dip possibly at linebacker by selecting Baron Browning and or Bolton. We are far from done I think in that linebacker room. We now have great ammo by trading back with Philly. We can move up easily without losing a thing really. We will have an awesome day 2.Watch out for Divine Deablo as early as round 3 tonight for us. He fits that Kam Chancellor role at hybrid safety and linebacker. ALSO, watch out for Tommy Togiai from Ohio state. The Parsons pick btw, had to be done. He's going to be just fine and in time, maybe sooner rather than later, turn into a stud and ALL PRO. He could turn out to be the steal of round 1. If he didnt have any off field stuff, he would have been in the top 10 conversation more than he was. Denver would have picked him I think. We got great value for him when you factor in the trade.

Either explanation doesn’t put Jerry in the best light.

Frankly I think they are spinning this. They are peeved the two CBs went and now they have to PR the heck out of the Parsons pick.
Well, it is what it is . I’m not really interested in the PR.

No doubt they didn’t get either of the CB’s they were targeting.

I thought they maneuvered well considering . And picked up a 3rd rd pick to boot. Not a bad recovery.

That could all be true but the issues facing the team are more about bad coaching hires and complete suckitude in FA compared to drafting.
They are all contributing factors. Our misses in draft on defense this era is certainly one of the factors.

He was the top player on the board when they picked because the earlier top players on their board had already been picked. Accordingly Jerry was very precise in his wording. Like saying you got the prettiest girl at the bar, but that was only after all the prettier girls had left the bar with other guys.
Although I have issue with the thinking that the two CBs were higher on the board, because I like the Parsons pick over either if those CBs, but your thinking is logical answer

sure it does. they're all closely rated regardless. so even if parsons was rated high, it makes much MUCH more sense to go cb. everything sounds plausible and reasonable.

The pick itself is an A.

Letting the Eagles get DeVonta Smith stings but he was going to the Giants if we didn't so really whats the difference.

The real debate is whether we should we have made the Bears trade. Parsons and a 3 or pick 20, a 5th this year and a 1st and 4th next year.

To question if we should have taken the trade. But, IMHO you ONLY do that, if you are comfortable with Caleb Farley's back. Which is a HUGE IF.

But, IMHO a chance to grab a player like Parson, you don't pass up.

Funny how most mocks didn’t have Parsons going until mid rounds and he was literally hardly mentioned around here, it was all Pitts/Surtain/Horn. Now once we drafted him he’s suddenly the best player and the best pick we could have had, regardless of draft position.

If he was as awesome as some of ya’ll claim and truly the BPA then where was all the hype about him before the draft, instead of Horn or Surtain?

Typical over reaction, every year it’s the same song and dance. I remember even getting flamed for knocking the Taco and LVE pick, the hype was very similar and now one of them isn’t even on the team and the other is about to not be on the team. Funny how that works.

So hey with your reasoning they may as well not even draft anyone since the coaching sucks and the team sucks at FA. SMH

You honestly haven’t been paying attention.

Micah Parsons has been talked about as a possible draft pick since before the season even ended. He has always been talked about as one of the best defenders in the draft and not a single reputable scout or draft profiler had Parsons listed as being a mid round pick.

go back into the draft zone and back to threads from months and months ago even when the season was still happening.

It is quite possible Denver and Carolina also had Parsons as the top rated defender. Quite possible Denver and Carolina had CB as a higher need or value position. Denver brought in two CBs via FA so probably not an immediate need. Denver and Carolina might think the CBs at round two and later were a bigger drop than the LBs available in later rounds.

Maybe Denver and Carolina didn’t go BPA. We can only guess.

Jerry usually tells the truth about the draft, both before and after.
