Maybe the didn’t really want him? Maybe there is a reason he didn’t go in the first like many thought? Maybe since they signed a FS this offseason they felt the CB was a more important need?

Nah everyone knew he was a second round pick. And everyone knew the Cowboys had interest in him. Best rated safety in the draft in your back yard at TCU? Are you kidding me man?

Gotta admit, I wouldn't mind seeing some bully behavior on the field once in a while. The Cowboys have earned the unfortunate rep of being soft. That has to change.

Let's be real though. The Cowboys are looking for Day 1 starters....you can argue they got that in Parsons and Keldon....Surtain would've represented that too. Moehrig? Not so much.

It was rumored a lot of teams liked him yet they passed to that point. The cowboys wouldn’t even move up one spot to grab him. Plus he wasn’t even taken as the first safety.

he may end up a pro bowl player, but it’s also very possible the cowboys ended up with the better player. I don’t understand getting upset at this.

Also is it just me or does every draft have 10 day 2 safeties that everyone gets excited about and then 3 years from now 7 or 8 of them are backups.

I have a hard time getting excited about safeties anymore unless they're first round grades. After that it feels too random.

Safety is a hard position to project because it has more scheme variability than any other defensive position. An all-pro safety in one scheme could be a backup in another.

Both went the pick right before us. 2 high character safe picks. Both would be long term starters. Parsons and Joseph have character concerns.
They aren't Cowboys, so I don't give a crap!

floor: starter

ceiling: pro bowl

These are just my opinions and I'm not claiming to be right:

Round 1
  • Surtain's floor is average starter and his ceiling is probably probowl
  • Parsons' floor is average starter and his ceiling is likely allpro
Round 2:
  • Moehrig's floor is a backup and special teamer that can start but you don't want him too. His ceiling is above average starter.
  • Joseph's floor is never reaching a second contract. His ceiling is likely allpro.

The Browns are having a better draft than the Cowboys and they picked in the 20s.

Yeah JOK was there for the taking! We could have traded down to the Bears pick. Then select Farley and JOK.

Farley is a broken player and JOK is a tweener with a heart condition.

"The hospital" is off-field, too.

The Cowboys had Parsons rated higher than Surtain and Joseph rated higher than Moehrig. Parsons and Joseph would've been the picks even if Surtain and Moehrig were still on the board at each pick.

You'll draw some flags, yep. But you gotta draw flags so you can find the line so you can get the most you can.

I'll take the occasional penalty if this defense starts looking alive

This isn’t tennis or golf, this is the most violent sport in the world. F character- give me some people that are ready to take someone’s head completely off their body.

we are not going to fix the defense in 1 draft.

We're doing a damn good job trying though.

Parsons can defend the run like a bad *** and Kelvin Joseph is a shot of talent on the outside.

Everyone is hand wringing, this team is heating up on the defensive side, get a bit excited!
