There's a big difference between off the field character issues and football character issues. This guy has football character problems. He had issues making it to practice at LSU, and was advised to leave. Think about how LSU is - if you can't stay there, that speaks volumes. And, once he gets to Kentucky, he mails it in late in the season, and his coaches advise him to opt out. Joseph is another guy who has extreme talent and self management issues. He can play.....when he wants to. This was not a good pick - front office fell asleep during this round, and let a lot of good players go off the board when a trade up could have been made. I would have preferred Ifeatu Melifonwu over Joseph if they went corner - at least you won't have to worry where his priorities lie.

The Cowboys treat the second round like the Statue of Liberty. Give me your tired, your injured, your character issues.....

college coaches put up with a LOT if you are talented but 2 groups of Coaches quit on him.dude is more focused on his rap career than football.

Lol!!! You coach who your boss tells you to coach!
Nope.

Was head of recruiting. I went out and got better players. I stood by my principles and my boss gave me the opportunity to implement ideas.

Again, men, not sheep. Nice try though.

I can already tell by all of your posts that you had a lot of assistants leave you and go on to successful, enjoyable coaching experiences elsewhere. This idea that you have to blindly follow whoever is ahead of you at the time is antiquated.

Go Cowboys though.

Not a fan of the pick at all.

Jerry doesn't learn from his mistakes when selecting DB's with character issues. When football isn't as important as all of the extra curricular stuff it's a real problem.

Needed a safety. Moehrig was just sitting there and we sit like a bunch of fools. 12 guys aren’t making this team.

And we need a corner. Seems we'd likely have gone cb even with Moerig on the board

If you haven't heard of him, you have no business being on a draft forum. I don't watch Kentucky football but I know he has first round talent. Go watch some tape of the kid before you bash the pick...
You got the kid part right, more like toddler or even infant.

I think the cowboys liked the int's, but int's are much harder in the nfl than in college. I think they just looked at that and athletic ability
and ignored the mental aspects.
Also they were determined to get a CB, and let need or want overrule BPA

Who did you like there over a corner?

Definitely worrisome.

“Kelvin is a good young man, appreciate what he did for us. He didn’t — I don’t know how to phrase it, it’s really an odd conversation to be honest with you. He didn’t want to opt out, but he didn’t want to play this week. Didn’t want to risk injury, I said, “That’s understandable, but that’s not how we’re going to do it.” I can’t just have him out there standing around saying, “I’m not playing in this game.” That’s not a good sign. That’s not the way we’re going to do it here at Kentucky.”

So he turns 20 and 9 days later quits his team because he didn’t want to get hurt. I'd like to see the quote Stoops made in video if possible because it reads like he's trying to be magnanimous.

Has his suspension in the Fiesta Bowl been explained? "Broke team rules," is all I've read.

I have 8 former assistants that became head coaches and 16 are coordinators. They are much more appreciative han someone like you. They were humble and didn't think they knew it all. I would have never hired you and when I inherited a coach like you, I would have fired him my first day on the job. I don't doubt you are a good coach, but loyalty is on the top of my list. You don't fit that bill, from what I see.

Hard to voice how much I hate this pick. If we had to pick a CB, Samuel was still there. Maybe he’s more of a slot guy but at least he can play, has good technique, and will show up for practice

Not entirely a fair comment. I don't watch any college ball and have no idea who he is. But I'm on a draft forum to see what everyone else thinks.

I have as much business here as anyone even though I haven't heard of him. And, I enjoy reading the comments from both sides of each pick.

How the heck do you know that ? You do know that Quinn attended the Kentucky pro day himself. I’m sure he was on board with taking this kind of player.

All you RKG guys, when exactly did we have a locker room of RKG’s? Or is that just a convenient term to use to sum up the JG years?

So instead of moving up and taking a guy with talent and a good attitude you claim you’re sick of RKG’s and want a guy that’s played 20 games in college, has been on two different teams, has a work ethic issue, is immature, and is inconsistent but shows flashes of being good?

Lol, every year Jerry does this crap and we continue to be irrelevant. Whether it’s character issues or injury issues, Jerry finds these “discounts”, gets the fan base hyped up and rarely do they deliver. LVE and Smith come immediately to mind, then there’s guys like Hardy, zeke (who hasn’t been worth the pick or salary), Dez was always a headache, Josh Brent, Randy Gregory, Aldon Smith, etc. How did those RKG’s work out for us?

Well, based on what I understand it to mean, you named only 2 RKGs. LVE and Smith.

I never liked the term, but if you're going to lump LVE and Smith in with Hardy, Dez, Gregory, and to lesser extents the others; the term RKG literally means nothing.

How can someone name LVE and Smith along with Hardy and Gregory and say they are all "RKG" players? That doesn't even make sense to me.

Name: *Kelvin Joseph (Transfer from LSU)
College: Kentucky Number: 1
Height: 6-0 Weight: 197
Position: CB Pos2:
Class/Draft Year: rSo/2021
40 Low: 4.32 40 Time: 4.35 40 High: 4.42
Projected Round: 2 Stock:

Combine Invite: Yes
Height: 5114
Weight: 197

Pro Day
Dates: 03/31/21
Hand: 09 1/4 Arm: 31 7/8
Wingspan: 77 1/8

Height: 5114
Weight: 197
40 Yrd Dash: 4.35
20 Yrd Dash: 2.48
10 Yrd Dash: 1.44
225 Lb. Bench Reps:
Vertical Jump: 35
Broad Jump: 10'08"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.23
3-Cone Drill: 7.21

I know him and he is a gamble. But his talent is 1st round and his commitment and work ethic is questionable. He is why Parcells called Derek Ross, a CB drafted in 2002, a "street ball" player.

An example of this loot at his 10 yard dash time in the 40yd dash. It is the best of all CB. Probably the best on earth. So the logical conclusion is that his short shuttle (20yd shuttle) would be 4.00 or less. But it was 4.23 and 3-Cone 7.21. Neither of those times match his play on the field as he has serious burst and very agile with turn of direction.

So how can you quit on the team after 4 ints with only one game left in the season. With all that time you would expect him to focus on technique and drills to show his elite acceleration and agility. Nope. he just street balled it after vertical, broad jump and 40 yd time.

He was suspended at LSU, and got into it with Stoops at Kentucky. Someone is going to have turn this great skilled street ball player into a professional football player. If it can be done, he will be a Pro Bowler and All Pro in the next 2 years.
