I'm not disagreeing with your sentiment but Joseph is a far superior athlete than Larrimore was. He's also more proven, battle-tested.

How about Dwayne Goodrich?

Derek Ross?

My point is these were high talent DB's that were a disaster in Dallas and had character concerns as well.

Here we are with Kelvin Joseph.

Well, based on what I understand it to mean, you named only 2 RKGs. LVE and Smith.

I never liked the term, but if you're going to lump LVE and Smith in with Hardy, Dez, Gregory, and to lesser extents the others; the term RKG literally means nothing.

How can someone name LVE and Smith along with Hardy and Gregory and say they are all "RKG" players? That doesn't even make sense to me.
Garrett signed off on Gregory. And hardy.

Much better comparisons.

I think Claiborne is a better one. Joseph and Claiborne are very similar, both athletically and emotionally.

Thanks for the above write up! That’s my issue. I like having some “dawg” in players. In fact I love it. But when the cieling on many picks start to waffle on effort, issues, discipline..you aren’t using your resources right. My guess is that Quinn trying to emulate the Legion of Boom told them you need some real swagger vs swipe swagger

And Gregory and Hardy weren't RKGs. That was my point. Whether or not Garrett signed off on it (I doubt he actually did) doesn't matter.

Like I said, I don't like the term but let's not redefine what a good majority of this board would have told you it meant 10 years ago. If I remember correctly, "choir boy", was a popular synonym.

Mo was terrible here overall but I did not disagree with that pick, or moving up to grab him.

There was nothing to say he would not be a top tier DB in the NFL.

This is different. He doesn't value football enough to not be hesitant on spending high draft capital on his selection.

I will say I distrust LSU players in the NFL vs Alabama because Saban somehow gets his kids to "get it" much sooner.

I have a terrible vibe with this pick. I think he'll be gone before we know it.

I was lumping in injury and/or character issues as bargain shopping for Jerry.

I’m not 100% but about 99.9% Garrett wanted nothing to do with Hardy and that was pushed on him. Further more, after Hardy knocked the clipboard out of the coaches hand, Jerry wouldn’t let Garrett discipline him because that was his new shiny toy.

Then I would agree, but I would also say that it wasn't all that clear.

LVE and Smith come immediately to mind, then there’s guys like Hardy, zeke (who hasn’t been worth the pick or salary), Dez was always a headache, Josh Brent, Randy Gregory, Aldon Smith, etc. How did those RKG’s work out for us?

Well, I'll just say that I know nothing about this guy or the S some are pissed off Dallas didn't make a move for. Guess he's the top-rated safety in the draft.

I would have probably gone with the move up and pick the safety. It's time for that position to get a little attention.
