I mentioned this before the draft...............the fact that the Cowboys have NEVER mentioned ONE thing at all about Parsons was a give away how much they wanted him. They talked about both corners, Pitts, ect.....ect....

I don’t buy that we are that smart, jerry always telegraphs every move

Yep...........not after watching the rest of the draft and everyone we wanted go right in front of us in EVERY round. Jerry is an idiot.

The guy belongs nowhere near a GM seat.

This could have been an all time A+ draft.

Parsons, Barmore/Moehrig, McNeil. 3 day one starters all studs at positions of need. And Jerry couldnt give up a 5th or 6th rounder to move up a pick or two in the 2nd and 3rd.

In all the mock drafts I ever saw..............NONE were that good or optimistic. People would have laughed if someone posted that and said it never could have happened.

And to watch Barmore, who I loved go a few picks ahead of us was tough. What made it worse was Belliceck loved him too and traded up for him which makes it more tough.

Let me guess... Our pick at 44 will have had a first round grade as well...

This team sells the same crap / different year.

Actually, they were considering trading up for the 1st pick with the Jags to get Kelvin Joseph, and they were shocked he was still there at 44.

we didn’t exactly shore ourselves up during FA either....

I gotta say, one of the funniest parts of this draft was watching you bad mouth Barmore all day long claiming you were watching film and saw nothing. Then see Bellicheck trade up for him in the 2nd round.

Just another day at the office for you in getting everything completely bozo wrong.

Patriots suck at drafting.

I could interpret all those differently.
  • Frederick was a surprise
  • Martin was known to be a likely bpa candidate at 16 that fit our obvious needs if Donald didn't slide. We were linked to OL, not Martin.
  • Byron Jones was known to be a likely bpa candidate in the late 20s that fit our obvious needs. We were linked to DBs, not Jones.
  • Zeke was picked 4th. How many people do you expect to be in the conversation in the top 5?
  • Honestly I don't remember and don't want to talk about Taco and his pre-draft hype.
  • LVE was linked to us because he was a first round grade from Boise State at a position of need. At a certain point the link is inevitably made.
  • Lamb was a surprise. You can't say "so and so surprised but it doesn't count because they were gonna get the linked guy if they didn't surprise us". They still picked the surprise.
Not to mention, we're linked to lots of people every year. If a simple link is all you're judging by, then how many teams actually surprised anyone last night? We were linked one way or another in the media to like 6 people and we were picking 10 lol

In all but the Frederick situation, we had beat writers literally listing these names as likely picks.

Few of any had us taking Parsons except Slater right before the draft.

What’s at work here is just you guys trying to create a narrative that they really wanted Parsons all along so you can feel even better about the pick.

I've wanted Parsons for a long time, you'll find threads started by me about Parsons in the draft zone from months ago. I am 100% cool with turning the 10th pick into Parsons + Golston. Our run defense got so much better today as a floor, and Parsons ceiling in particular could take him to any level. Great value for pick 10.

You're making big assumptions for how little I've said about myself, you know.

Our run defense got so much better? By adding a light 3T and a guy in Golston who is basically Dorrsnce Armstrong?

And the point is Parsons at 12 is a fine pick. Buts it clear they wanted one of the CBs first (and maybe Sewell too) before Parsons.

When the two CBS went, they adjusted nicely.

Heck yeah our run D got better. Parsons is great against the run. Golston is a guy that can go into the rotation to reliably play the run, but he likely won't give you more production than that. 'Zuwa can rotate at multiple spots on the DL like an appropriately priced Tyrone Crawford. We got better outside with Joseph which will only help the rest of the defense.

There's gonna be a lot of picking this draft apart and I'm not saying these will all work out or anything but based on what Brugler and other voices I trust are telling me, we did get better, younger, cheaper across the defense. It might not be pretty but I am so happy that they finally stopped toying with the defense and just threw talent at it already. I can see every single one of these guys getting real playing time on our defense because we're just not good.

Im leaving the scope of the thread now but I do honestly feel like this could be an average defense after free agency and the draft. I think that's all we really need. This offense is ridiculous.

No, Im not going there unless we get tons of injuries. This just could have been a game changing draft.

I think its safe to say that Belli knows more than you. listening to you comment on how you couldnt see any talent in Barmore was hilarious. Well Belli saw it.

But I guess that is your calling card. You just cant see talent, or much else.

If you think the CB we just took is going to get real PT, good luck with that.

I think the odds are heavily in the direction of him being a PS guy or just getting cut. That was such a massive reach.

I was talking about Joseph making us better outside. Obviously.

Who even knows on this Nahshon guy. Im trying to find film to watch now. Looks more like a red zone weapon than a CB so far.
