Wright is a guy I will throw down the gauntlet for. I think he ends up being a huge get.
He's truly the prototype CB2 in a Cover 1/3 scheme.
Very long player who plays zone technique and attacks the ball.
Very long arms to go with 6'4" so effortlessly high points balls other guys are trying to time out.

Year 1 could be a slow roll but trash agility and bench press numbers are easily improved upon when targeted.

Big-time playmaker with swagger.
I agree

There is no way to justify taking him at 99. If he can be had two or three rounds later you let me fall and take a higher ranked player

Problem with this team, is they draft / gamble like they fill all needs in free agency.

Then in free agency they do nothing like they always fill needs via draft

On Sunday and Monday, we will analyze UDFA signings and looking for pet cats. I feel like we are starting that discussion with 3rd round, pick 99. I'm truly dumbfounded. Reach for him in the 5th or *maybe* the last pick in the 4th. At 99? At 99?

One more note. This reminds me of the year when we drafted 3 CBs... in rounds 2, 4, and 6... with character-trouble player in the 4th but lots of talk about hope and potential. That draft produced poor results on the field. This draft is feeling like a similar desperate approach

yes the entire 3rd round was headscratcher and seems like reaches but when you really take look at the payer, is it the payers fault pre-draft grades were lower? they arent always accurate we see great players come form owner rounds ie fall through the cracks alot..id give them a chance both the caches choice and the players a chance

the medias feedback ie grades at the draft shows seem to have far more positive feedbacks on these guys..ill it to see how they play before being far too judgemental...

Couldnt agree more. Falling in love with a dude who might have gone anywhere from 6th rd to udfa is just plain stupid or completely arrogant . Arrogant in the sense that you think you you are so insightful that you pick a guy soooo early besause you know more than EVERYONE else.

That was a dumbazz pick . Intensified by the fact that they blew chunks on the previous pick

This does sound like a reach... they must know something we don’t.
Brother, they never know something we don't. That's why everyone is pissed. I won't hate on the player. This kid was so excited when he got the call last night but this franchise is run by a bunch of buffoons (obviously).

This Wright pick has really thrown me off track from a ranking standpoint as many have mentioned. So why the pick? Quinn, scheme, scouting.... Some have mentioned he is a safety.

I think Jerry is going to get a lot of heat if this kid does not make the active roster. I'm hoping these guys found a gem. We will see come game 1.

I disagree, when you factor in the previous rounds where you watched player I'm sure they wanted go a few slots before their pick, why gamble if he is a player they really liked? Time will tell if he was worth his draft slot.
