How much better is this team?

Yeah.

I also looked and saw a S who was such an awful teammate, pretty much the entire team in Baltimore went to the front office and requested he be sent packing. Then no other team would come within 400 miles of him. Throw in the fact that he wasn't even all that good in Baltimore when he did play, it's strange you keep wanting to bring him in here.

You literally are suggesting we bring in a guy who isn't very good and is a total pain in the *** on top of that. How does that make sense?

Yes.. We’re thugging it up on defense.

This is like asking Tampa if AB is worth it.

I don’t care.

I don’t like hearing that from you Bob.

Hopefully, you’re wrong this time. You didn’t like either of the first two?
I really don’t know and I probably am wrong. Parsons is probably a decent pick. Honestly, I’m just going by the feel of this draft and I’m already violating my own rule of not judging a draft too early. It’s just hard watching the Jones family in that war room and not think “2009”.

They need to give Earl Thomas a call.

We’re better because dak is back and because of regression to the mean alone.

Corners were flying off the board and we tried to trade up for Campbell and ended up with Joseph. I think Joseph is going to be a star in this league.

you must have overlooked FA as well with 3 DL and a s /SLb hybrid and this draft is simply Quinn trying too get the right players for his scheme..most on ther sau Joseph ws not default pick, he has first raound talent grade, balzing speed and edge..this defense IMO is already improved a new staff with vision and now players they brought in in FA/Drfat to excute it..

Scheme quinn over Nolan =Improved

just because Dorrance turned out to be scrub doesnt mean these guys will..

staying on that subject

Basham is better then Dorance -improved
Urban is better then tCraw- improved

Watkins, anou, carter is depth and thes draft picks along the OL will compete for backup spots because Gallimore will make jump and Hill has chance to show improvement, add to it Woods is back..

so theres a lot of depth and competition coming in for DL positions, i like it..Quinn will get to shake this up nd put together the puzzle the way he feels he will have complete defense.

Kazee, neal, =Improved over 23 and whomever else we had in chae drill at S to go with Wilson....Improved

Lastly FA and Draft not over yet. Roster cut down more player will be cut and signed before game 1..

lets wait and see how it comes together before poopooing all of it.

Overall I do feel we improved enough taking all this into account, and the additions in the draft. So why do I fell ...meh...still.
Maybe because of the reach with Wright, when they need a S or another LB. They missed out on some really good players left on the board at that point.

As I been saying all off season, will not get over hyped or too down, until I see it on the field. But I do feel the team improved with the FA's, and 1st 2 picks, and with Quinn.

I fell somewhat disappointed for now, but no way will I complain constantly as well. Still a lot left in the off-season to see how it all comes together.

They’re reaching for picks. The only person who shouldn’t be upset is Rockport and even he may have seen enough after that 3rd round.

Feelings dont mix well with sports..
they missed allegedly better players, until the actual TEAM Concept is created and fielded top to bottom no one knows..

funny how great meal can be cooked on chopped with crazy ingredients that seem to not go together. Quinn has plan and well at bottom 5 last year this can obly go up IMO, we have ..

as bad as we were last year its going to be tough to improve all in one offseason but i believe they got enough volume of players to fight it out in OTA, MC, and Preseason to field that improved roster..all that expected is be more competitive on defense ie go from bottom five to middle of the pack..

Roster spots. Cheap roster spots. That's what Stephen basically said yesterday and they went into the 3rd round (and I expect more bizarreness today in the 4th) looking not for the best talents but rather the best "fits" that could fill specific depth holes they believe they have and do it at rookie bottom barrel prices.

Oh, we lost Crawford? Well we need that undersized DT who can play DE too again! Oh, Armstrong is probably done? Well we need an identical guy in Golston!

It's going to be funny when two years from now, half these guys aren't even on the roster. Great cap savings there, Stephen.

I expect most of the 11 picks not to make the roster.

Yet every offseason you keep saying the same thing. Hey guys, it's tough to improve in just one offseason. You've probably said the same thing for 25 offseasons now.

So this begs a question. Do you envision a time when we won't have to make big improvements in one offseason?

You’re possibly very correct on this Blue. It’s just hard to have much faith in the same people who have been running this team to mediocrity at best for far too long. You may be right. It’s just hard to watch that war room clown show and feel confident.

I have no trouble drafting defense. It was clearly the team weakness.

I like the pick of Parson. The 2nd round Kentucky CB is a starter almost by default. And the wrestler with long arms may have potential if he can gain 10-15 pounds of muscle.

But replacing Dorance Armstrong with another scrub solves nothing. Rounds 4-7 is nothing more than a crap shoot.

In the end, the needle hasn't really moved much at all. We are still a 8-9 win team in my view. And the culture problems are still there

Thoughts?
Yes, the 1st and 2nd round picks will improve the defense. The third rounders at a minimum will provide depth, but should have at least got one starter, we will see come game 1.

The other way to look at it, as I posted last night.
Most of the ones really complaining (which are the usuals). Said we need to come away with at least 2 starters and some depth. I do feel they did that. So they do that but yet they say it sucks.
I am not saying it sucks by any means. I know they did decent if not better (which they probably did). My posts right now are just me, feeling they could have done better with that last pick. It is like getting a bad cherry on top of the ice cream. But not so bad it ruins the entire thing.

I told my wife last night that 40% of these picks won't even be in the league by year 3

Anyone down on the Parsons or Joseph selections, I will never understand. Both are extremely talented players and will represent starters on Day 1 for us on this defense.

That 3rd round though....i am still trying to understand why they decided to go into day three-mode on day 2.

yep, this is the jones.
They think they can take an average QB, pay him exceptionally well and we will be winners.

"I bet you a dollar we can take this "dak" guy and make him a legit quarterback."
okay

I saw this in many war room reactions. They worked 24/7 the last 2 months without combine and new ways of virtual evaluations trying to get their board rights, they have right to blow off steam..

I dont think fans realize how many hours theses scouts and coaches put into these drafts and offseason work..

most maybe never made it back home and spent in hotels or cots at the facility's the last 2 weeks..

fans need to not believe what they read, see, and try and form narratives and opinions. Stop judging grown professional men that are actually in the fields we watch, not outside it behind keyboard..SMH

i judge this stuff after the season , not before

Trust well its new staff on defense with new voice and new vison.

lets give them the benefit of the doubt. Jerry and Stephen are NOT making all these decsions..trust me they are along for the ride WM and MM quinn and the scouting department chose these players as a committee..

Have we improved? On paper, yes. It's not really that hard to improve from last year.
Will we be a better team? Yes, we will. We are still talented on offense and any improvement on defense is improvement.
However, I don't know how these players will pan out. None of us do. We're just guessing if we think we do.
But 25 years of futility has left me jaded. So while I revel in the optimism a draft will bring, the pessimist in me says it likely will be more of the same.
Please, prove me wrong.
