Saw a lot of complaints about Dallas drafting an LB so high

Seems like it keeps getting regurgitated here and in the twitterverse as if linebackers don't conventionally get taken w/ premium picks.

Going back 5 years there's been linebackers taken in the top 10 every year (except for 17 where the first was taken at pick 13)

2019 there were 3 taken in the top 10 (and one more @ 12)
2018 there 2 (and another at 16)

I get we've now got a ton of resources at LB and it's disappointing how things have panned out, just wanted to kill the narrative.
Dallas has no intention of taking Parsons. He was plan D. They got punked in the first three rounds.

However, that doesn't mean the picks won't work out.

I like LVE. But availability is the #1 factor in football. I would rather he stays than Jaylon myself.

He’s 100 times better than Jaylon. Jaylon should be a backup somewhere.

If LVE has a medical then yeah we can move on. I don’t want to go through another Sean Lee.

But dude broke his collarbone and we’re done with him now?

He is one of the most talented linebackers in football.. We suck at defense and we’re just willing to let a guy who is unreal in space walk? His medical better say he is almost done for us to do that.

Jaylon sucks.....that’s why we got new LB’s obviously. If we could go with Parsons and LVE and Cox it would be formidable. But LVE had a horrible year last year. I hope he played like his rookie year next season. That’s good for us

I just have this crazy idea they pick up the option. I think Jaylon is gone after this year and that will pay for LVE next year and he’ll then have this year and next year to prove his worth and earn a contract. The injuries don’t bother me as much as the fact that two years in a row he was playing poorly BEFORE the injuries. But I think the team will pick it up because they give every player every possible chance to prove they are smart football guys

Basically they just put LVE and Smith on notice, perform or leave. I would've preferred finally having a 1T instead to clean up the line for us and make life easier for the entire defense. However, I've accepted that the current braintrust just doesn't value a space-eating DT the way some fans do.

how do you know all these draft picks we got for DL added to Urban , Watkins, woods , hill etc will become nice line rotation..theres some fire plugs we just drafted ..how about give them shot, one was rated 4th best DT 1t in the draft....what the names dont excite you? lost of big name disappointments in years past from the draft..

btw that fans do since when do fans build teams oh wait madden and FF have clouded fans lol

i dont belve that for minute , the draft proves that out..cox and parsons are potential starters they are no longer in a postion of weakness they have leverage , who would want LVE as a RFA for big deal??..hes better off signing a less expensive prove it deal here..if not bye bye..

quinn will have lot of input on that as of now..LVE and JS wont be cut this season but they will have ot be at their best because young bucks with dog in them will be coming after their jobs..

I want to like LVE as much as you, but he has plaed 35 games over 3 years, and 15 in the last two....not sure anybody can claim he is one of the most talent LB'S in the league. After his rookie year, we don't really know what he is, and certain unfortunately he can't be trusted with his health and the position he plays. Nerve issues in the neck are extremely serious. The games he did play last year he looked as lost as 54 did, allbeit could be Nolan's scheme or whatever. Not sure we an pick up his option hoping he reverts back to his rookie season, I don't anybody sees this happening.

I agree. I thought he was really good and he was his rookie year. When they swapped him and Jaylon around in 2017, it seemed like things just went downhill. And then he got hurt . I still feel like he's a very good player if healthy.Hopefully they will give him a chance to prove it,if he stays healthy, a pro bowler.

Yup hopefully they can turn some of that girth into burst so he has more than just a quick first step and he becomes a regular contributor to a sorry run defense.

Wait a minute - you whine about not getting a "space eating" DT and then they get one and you want him to lose weight?

This is real life, not Madden, the run stuffing 335 lb DT that's light on their feet is extremely rare, if not downright non-existent. Be happy you got the big guy you and others wanted, you know that's not real high on the Cowboys' list...

357 lbs is a lot, man! Gotta get down to like 340 so he can play 40-50 snaps a game without running out of gas.

He's not going to play 40-50 snaps in this system even at 330, they will rotate guys. Rest easy, we got most (well more of) than you wanted.

And just for the record I have said that I also felt we needed a bigger guy for the middle, not to the degree you and others were saying, but it's nice to have all types of DTs on the roster, to match up with different offenses in the league...

I agree. I’d rather roll the dice on LVE than Jaylon. I don’t think they can move on from both next year so ditch Jaylon and hope LVE is over his injuries. Move on from him the next year if not.

I don’t believe that’s true but if it takes them getting punked like this to make the right decision I’m all for it # 12 was the right pick
