I think Quinn has a plan. But if he leaves they are correct we are screwed. Which is why I thought it made zero sense hiring mike. The offense stays the same because of kellen which frees the hc to focus on defense except our HC is an idiot who knows neither.
Jerry figures MM has the skills to talk the team through the playoffs since he has won a SB.

David Moore w/ Norm Hitzges on The Ticket today -
  • There's a lack of defensive "expertise" in the front office and scouting department
  • Ownership/franchise culture is offensive-centric. (Cowboys have not resigned a 1st rd pick on defense since Demarcus Ware)
  • Scouts lean towards offensive players to satisfy the owner
  • The last two Cowboys head coaches were offensive-minded
  • This dynamic leads to a situation where the franchise leans on the defensive coordinator excessively regarding personnel decisions
  • They always view the next defensive coordinator as their "savior". Meanwhile, in Baltimore, a new DC is expected to contribute to established defensive culture.
  • When the DC is fired or goes elsewhere (Norm mentioned Quinn leaving for another HC job if he turns this thing around), the franchise has to start from scratch because there's no foundational defensive system in place here in Dallas
  • Mentioned how now they're throwing numbers at the problem in hopes that competition will fix the problem (no real plan)
  • They always view the next defensive coordinator as their"savior". Meanwhile, in Baltimore, a new DC is expected tocontribute to established defensive culture.
  • That is the real problem. The scouts are looking for different types of players every few years to satisfy the next savior. They need to follow the Steelers and ravens and say this is our defense and the DC will run this defense

@WillieBeamen this is precisely why I was down w/ Rivera or Rhule. Mike is overkill. Plus he seems lazy and content.

He has mouth breathing skillz and is too busy catching his breath after walking to the podium
Speaking of him, I'd certainly love to know what happened to.....player over scheme...from last years draft.

That certainly isn't the case any longer.

They are seriously all over the map with what they want to do.

No wonder everyone is confused, but philosophy by committee may do that.

Rivera would have been better. Not sure how rhule would do with the jonesies
Rhule had Baylor playing tough defense for the first time in my life. He's also a player's coach w/ a reputation for being a technician/hands-on teacher. Every time I hear/see McCarthy speak I lose a bit of confidence.

Well that’s reassuring...

I like David Moore, and I LOVE the Ticket, but here’s my issue with him and many of his takes:

Moore likes to present personal inference as fact. When questioned deeper he’ll admit this, but only if questioned. The Ticket has taken the “anti-Jerry” angle over the years for various reasons, but the point is they present themselves as the “truth tellers” free from Jerry’s or the organizations influence. This combined with the fact that his regular presence on the Ticket is really the biggest outlet for Moore apart from his writing results in a bit of a negative thought bubble when he’s on. His negative takes aren’t questioned and the ticket prefers the viewer believe his views are facts confirmed by sources within the organization.

So while some or all of this may be true, it’s purely David Moore’s opinion. He has nobody in the organization that secretly feeds him this info. And that’s fine, but in context it’s misleading.

Quinn has been as good as his talent on the field as DC IMO, no better. After what occurred the last three days we'll have to see how much of what was thrown against the wall sticks. I still see a below five hundred team and with as bad as the defense was, I think the play off the offensive line will determine the season as much as anything.

It's not the players that are the issue. It's having skins on the wall to keep all the different jones ppl in check.

Well, Jerry put all those Super Bowls together himself with the triplets, so of course he thinks offense is the priority.
Jimmy’s Cowboys had great defense as well.

#1 D during the 1992 SB run that could stuff the run, pressure QBs, generate turnovers, and make it difficult to convert third downs.

This should surprise no one.

Jerry and Stephen have structured the front office in their own way with their own biases present in key decision makers.
And that's what we call enabling. Fill your staff with people that will be yes men and agree with your decisions. Regardless of how many repetitive cycles we go through. Just have staff that agree and collect checks.

Classic narcissistic behavior to surround yourself with enablers.

If Quinn leaves get Richard again. They are the same even though people want to act like theres a difference.

Yep. Parcells was the last HC to have a defensive system effectively installed.
Parcells was the last HC we've had and might be the last one we ever have until Jerry and Stephen and no longer around.
