Well then you can’t axe him after a year no matter how it goes otherwise what the hell was the point in letting him pick over the scouts.

That third round was the most frustrating sequence of 3 picks I’ve ever experienced and I would’ve definitely taken Slater over Parsons. Even if Parsons ends up great I can never value a great Lb over a great OG/OT.

Joseph I love the talent and the tape but can he stay on the straight and narrow we’ll see.

As it should be......just me, but I honestly feel a lot better than I did after day two. No question in my mind we're already a better D than we were last year. Encouraging the see focus on run defense.

THIS was the draft that could have reset the defense and the franchise. We had a top 10 pick in every round and had 2 extra 3rd rounders and an extra 4th rounder. We had the power to pick high and move all over the board to get who we wanted. On top of that, other than Horn and Surtain in the first round, the draft was falling to us just as we needed in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds. Everything was there for the taking.

And we blew it. Plain and simple, the FO blew it. A couple of simple trade ups and this draft goes from a C to an A+ and our defense gets transformed over night.

We drafted guys to fit a scheme for a DC that will probably be here for two years.

I agree with you. We had top picks in each round and drafted like we had to either had to shoot for the stars because nobody was left of value, or scrape the bottom of the barrel for very specific scheme fits. This draft was a miss for me.

Even the 3 round screams Quinn.....
Talking to a buddy of mine last night about the Wright pick......he wondered if Quinn has some special plans for this kid. It's obvious for some reason, he loves this kid and didn't wanna take ANY chance at losing him.

I agree he has to have something for him because Molden was right there and is the better player

Yep...............they sat around hoping instead of being aggressive. When the guys went RIGHT BEFORE them it just seemed like they took stabs at guys on their list they kinda liked that might fit. It was really really pathetic.

And you could see in the press conference that they all knew it. No one was excited about anything. Those guys were tickled pink last year with the draft. You could see it in all their eyes this year. There was nothing.

Remember this? It's my hope we will look back at this year's draft picks in a similar way. No big or sex names, but good solid players.

The 1972 Dolphins defensive unit, called the No-Name Defense because Miami's impressive offense received much more publicity, as well as Cowboys coach Tom Landry coining the phrase in an interview, was the league's best that year.
Playoff finish: Won Divisional Playoffs (vs. Bro...
Home field: Miami Orange Bowl
Pro Bowlers: show 9: SS Dick Anderson; MLB ...
Head coach: Don Shula

Dan Quinn also stated most of the time NFL runs out of nickle on defense...over 70%...so that is 4 down lineman...that is how in reality we play more 4-3 than 3-4...i like Dan Quinn i think but its hard to forget it was his defense that could not hold to a 28-3 lead 3rd quarter of the superbowl and they lost...but then again one game good or bad can happen to anyone?

There's no question but what Dan Quinn made some bold decisions as to what might help his defense to make some big changes. I'd venture to say that a "B" grade is about right, especially so, since some of these players aren't generally accepted as promising starters. Does Dan have a "feel" for what and who should uplift a pathetic defense to rise above their performances of 2020? The results are yet to be noticed. Take heart. I really believe some of these players should very well surprise us in quite an, unexpectedly, positive manner. This defense has had a highly attentive replenishing, without question. I'm sensing some exciting changes in the works.

I patently disagree with this statement.

But I disagree even more in light of what the Cowboys o-line looks like in comparison to what the Cowboys linebacking corps looks like.

We drafted guys to fit a scheme for a DC that will probably be here for two years.

So, your better idea is to draft for the next DC's.depth chart.

*sigh*

Cannot, I repeat, cannot evaluate a draft for 3-4 years. Can guess, and that's our job as fans, I get it.

But until this community is populated by people who've impressed enough with their evaluation skills that an NFL team wants to pay them for their opinions, then the guesses will remain worthy of a shrug of the shoulders and will mainly just be an indication of individuals' predisposition toward humility or pomposity, as well as optimism or pessimism.

You HONESTLY think Quinn didn't consult his scouts? He just told them "Don't worry boys, daddy Dan's got this one." You must not have played a lot of football. Coaches always and I mean ALWAYS ask their scouts/coordinators/QC coaches, etc. what their opinion on a guy is. I was a varsity assistant coach for a HS and the HC would always come to me and ask what D-Line stunts the other team liked to run (I coached O-Line). He would then as every other assistant their thoughts, after reviewing the film himself he came up with a game plan.

Quinn asked his scouts/position coaches "Hey, who do we like for CB/DL/LBN etc" they gave their input and the Cowboys drafted accordingly.

I think many aren't excited about the two defensive lineman, but they plus run defenders. Urban who they signed as a fa, is another very good run defender. They just drafted the best run defending linebacker in Parsons. Add in that Woods was our strong safety last yr and now we are adding both Wilson/Neal inside the box. Our run defense should be fixed.

Coaches get too much credit for winning, too much criticism for losing. I've come to believe that. There's only so much a coach can do when players let down.

Just following what the tweet said Jerry letting him load up with his guys. If the scouts thought he was better than Molden I’m baffled. I’m baffled anyone in the org apparently thought it

i have to control my inner anger...i was so angry when they took that 7th rounder db in the 3rd....at least i did not throw things or crush a table with a bowlng ball.....to love a NFL team that much some may consider a psychiatric disorder?

i dont like McCarthey because he will just lie to your face and say anything...no integrity....Dan Quinn's defense lost them the superbowl unable to hold onto a 28-3 lead late in 3rd quarter....and a coupld of those picks on Friday beyond

mind boggling....but who am I?.... a 62 year old retired /disabled over the hill dude no one would listen to anyway....but back in Jimmy Johnson day he did not pick crummy guys as much as we do....but maybe it will all turn out well???

draft is a shot in the dark anyway
