Saw a lot of complaints about Dallas drafting an LB so high

He's not going to play 40-50 snaps in this system even at 330, they will rotate guys. Rest easy, we got most (well more of) than you wanted.

And just for the record I have said that I also felt we needed a bigger guy for the middle, not to the degree you and others were saying, but it's nice to have all types of DTs on the roster, to match up with different offenses in the league...
Vince wolfork clone? wo btw claimed to be 325 i watched this guy he was every bit of 350-375 at his prime playing years and he still could move..

I wonder how the Ravens feel about Ray Lewis, or the Bears feel about Urlacher and Dick Butkus

i meant Vince wolfork could play at that weight so 350 -355 for this guy is doable..

Gilbert Brown with the Packers was aptly named for his team, guy packed (pun intended) a lot of weight. From his Wiki listing "Many people thought that he started getting bigger around that time, and thought that he was as high as 360 or 375, much higher than his listed 345. "That was outrageous, I never got that big," said Brown. "The biggest I ever got up to was maybe 350, something like that." But the Packers were fine with his size.[1] Despite his weight, he posted three sacks during the 1997 season, which tied his career high from 1994."

Gotta love the "something like that". Means he was bigger than 350.

;)

He was close to the BPA with regards to needs.

I wanted Surtain, but he was gone. Parsons was a good picks for a LB core that has underwhelmed the past two years.
Bonus is that he isn't a medical disaster.

That alone makes him a great pick....

No complaints here. LVE went from a fierce china doll to a scared my little pony china doll and Jaylon Smith thinks that somehow he's just great all the time.

So glad the team made it clear theyre not going to settle for pets.

Seems like it keeps getting regurgitated here and in the twitterverse as if linebackers don't conventionally get taken w/ premium picks.

Going back 5 years there's been linebackers taken in the top 10 every year (except for 17 where the first was taken at pick 13)

2019 there were 3 taken in the top 10 (and one more @ 12)
2018 there 2 (and another at 16)

I get we've now got a ton of resources at LB and it's disappointing how things have panned out, just wanted to kill the narrative.

I think the frustration with this pick is not about the player we took.........its about the players we missed out on and the blockbuster trade we punted on in order to draft him. Maybe it will work out like the Zach Martin draft where all the defensive players we were targeting got drafted and Zach was the next guy on our board.

Dallas has no intention of taking Parsons. He was plan D. They got punked in the first three rounds.

However, that doesn't mean the picks won't work out.
So, tell me how they got “punked”? By teams ahead of them in the draft order taking a player they wanted? That’s getting “punked” (such a stupid term)? OK.

Hey, but those meaningless late season wins were great, weren’t they?

I think a good amount of fans think that drafting a corner high means no one will be able to pass on us.

Hardly the case.

I'd have also liked for there to be a stud DT sitting there at 10 but the timing was off.

Parsons was as good as they were going to do, amd if he wasnt the top defensive player on all teams board, he should have been.

I personally didn't pay much attention leading into the draft because I was convinced they were counting on 54 and 55 returning to form.

Apparently not at all, and good for the team.

Maybe the entitlement years are coming to an end.

Parsons has a pass rush, speed, is a tackling machine, plays close to the line of scrimmage proximity (you know, close to the actually football), is a sideline-to-sideline player, & an intimidating presence.
A much better value, and impact than a "CB".

I don’t get the LVE hate.

His only problem is his health.. Other than that he is absolutely incredible as a talent / player.

When.....not knowing when we can count on that "incredible talent", game-to-game, week-to-week, or year-to-year. That's the problem.......this coming from a huge pro-LVE fan.

RBs have a history of being taken high too. Doesn't mean it's a good idea just because others do it too.

No they don’t, and on the rare occasion they’re usually panned. And I didn’t say others doing it makes it a good idea, I said it’s not true that it’s not done.

I mean perhaps you can share the link that proves this trade was on the table because maybe Id look at things a bit different . I did not see any information that the cowboys passed on a trade opportunity. Just because the Giants got a deal done don't mean the cowboys were afforded that trade and passed

The Cowboys and Chicago talked for weeks before the draft about this scenario. We passed and they offered it to the Giants. It makes zero sense that deal was there for the Giants and not the Cowboys.
