Give you another one. Skinz trade for RG3. I believe they traded 6th over all and their 2nd round pick plus their 1st round picks for the next two years to get the 2nd overall pick in the draft and take RG3.

Too old?

Whether DeVonta Smith went to Philly or the Giants the Cowboys would have had to deal with him twice a year anyway.

They got the player they would have taken in Micah Parsons and an extra third round pick- like others have said, this trade was a huge win.

Good lord, it's like you haven't read a word of this thread or ever seen the JJ trade chart.

Three things about that trade.

1. It was for a QB. I've already noted several times that trading up for a QB can sometimes drive an overpay.
2. It was to the #2 spot in the draft. I've already noted several times that teams will sometimes overpay to get to #1 or #2.
3. That trade matched the chart perfectly! The #2 pick is worth 2600 by the chart. To get it, the Bears gave #3 (2200), #67 (255), #111 (72), and their 3rd-rounder the next year (roughly worth 75 after discounting a round). That adds to, well I'll be damned, 2602 points.

Auhhh......... OK, so no QBs, I see. The goal posts just don't want to seem to stay put do they?

But see, we still got Quick Sand JD because now you are judge and jury on whats fair right. So 200 points difference and that's acceptable but a scenario where The Cowboys get a 2nd rather then a 3rd or maybe an extra 4th or 5th is out of the question right? Just stop. You are craptastic at this.

Like I said, we've been through this, you're just ignoring everything that was already said.

Where do you see 200 points difference? I suggest you try actually reading next time. The Trubisky trade, your big example, was 2 points difference, dead even by the chart. The RG3 trade was about 100 points different (4%). You think the Eagles should have paid an 18% premium for a non-QB. Please stop embarrassing yourself.

2600 2nd overall Rams

1600 6th overall Skinz

510 39th overall Skinz

425 20th in 2013 at 1 half value (850)

350 15th in 2014 at 1 quarter value (1050)

So like 285 pt difference, not 100. That's where the 200 comes from. I suggest you follow your own advice. I never said a 2nd btw. I said I think we could have gotten a 2nd out of them or perhaps a lower pick in addition to the 3rd thrown in. That's what I said. Also, I said you are craptastic at this. So far, all true and you know what?

Somehow, I don't feel embarrassed at all!

Sure, if you make up how teams value future picks, you can make it come out however you want. And even with your garbage made-up evaluation that no team actually follows, it’s closer than your proposal for Eagles-Cowboys. And you’ve stopped talking about the Trubisky trade, which was dead on value. You’re pretty clearly just trolling at this point; anyone reading can tell that, so no point in continuing.

So Jerry and Stephen are off the hook for running their mouth’s so stupidly they telegraphed to the world they wanted one of the 2 highest rated cornerbacks ? While everyone, including pundits, were surprised that Carolina and Denver made the picks they did. And then, 3 or 4 teams after Dallas picked from the remaining cornerbacks. So Jethro and son stupidly broadcast and lost out on the top tier corners, then the 2nd tier by teams who picked after them. So they’re down to 3rd tier corners like a 5’10 Samuel as best corners remaining. Our new LB will be nailing running backs while the ball sails over his head to Eagle and Giant receivers covered by our 3rd tier corners. We need LB’s for sure, but we need corners more. Weird so many other teams are getting their corners first. So now Jerry is a hero ?

Well, you would know about that wouldn't you. But honestly, nothing was made up. I valued the picks in current years at what the chart says today. I valued the picks in out years accordingly, half value for a pick a year out and one third value for a pick two years out, based on where the pick would have happened and values assigned. I gave you several options, you pretty much discounted them. Then you said QBs didn't count, although, I don't know why they wouldn't but whatever. Your story.......

Because every team in the NFL knows there is ZERO chance we'd want to keep Fields on the roster given we just gave Dak a massive deal. So the offers wouldn't be as strong as you think.
And because we were stupid enough to have a "no trade" clause in the contract. Really dumb to take any threat of drafting a QB out of the equation before the draft began.

For all of you who constantly whine about Jerry always getting fleeced—the trade value chart indicates that we got very good trade value in the trade down and “won the trade”. That is all. Thank you. Take care.

Jerry did well but he could have done better. You have to follow the draft to understand the whole picture. When we had Mac Jones and Justin Fields on the board, that was a golden opportunity...... a dream scenario to really kick this draft in the teeth and get the most out of it. But Jerry layed up instead going for the green.

The trade itself might have been fine.

The trade the Giants got was better.

Why didn't they make the deal with the Bears?

Why didn't we draft Fields and entertain offers?

Those were better options, IMO.

were there???

were you there???

maybe the bears didnt offer the trade to us..you have to have trade partners first, its two way street. Got that concept yet?

lets tone down the emotional know it all gm armchair keyboard responses..

you dont know anything at all when it pertains to the inner workings of an NFL team especially what went on in the draft rooms..

why didn't NYG drat fields instead of making trade for wr and some pickls..DJ is NOT the guy yet well they are hanging their hat on backup qb destined to not last long as starter in this league..that trade was not great as they were going to choose DS so eagles or NY would have had DS we would face them anyway..

get passed the idea Jerry didnt consider the same trade, most likely was never an option..rumor have it they considered moving up to 6th to get horn/surtain but couldn't find team willing to make reasonable trade..and?

it worked out fine..move on

he laid up in your opinion!!that all it is puffing by fan behind keyboard..

you have no ide knowledge of real options inside the draft./.you hear and read what they allow you too..stop acting as if anything better was an option..smh.. some of you sure are big know it alls working from behind keyboard claiming all this first hand NFL Draft knowledge..:muttley::angry:

Nobody is trading for Dak anyway with that contract. He's got the second richest contract in NFL history and you can't surround him with anything less than pro bowl talent. Rather than draft Fields, Dallas could have gotten their lazy yacht butts on the phone to a QB needy team and probably landed something at least on par with what the Giants got. Then , fields goes 10. D Smith goes 11. The Jets and Chargers still need OL to help their young QBs. The Patriots are still drafting Mac Jones. We could have swung a trade with Phoenix to move back up and grab parsons.......and still come away with an extra first round pick next year.

Everyone knows the value of a drafted QB diminishes as soon as you drive him off the lot.

Why didn't the Bears try to trade up with Dallas in the 12 spot considering the Giants weren't taking QB?

Crazy things happen so although unlikely its possible someone would trade for him & his contract.
But yes, my first preference would have been not to sign Dak before the draft even if you have a deal in place & every intent to do so. At least keep the appearance that you could be in play for a QB so I can maximize my leverage. I can say without almost certainty, I would never include a no trade clause in any QB's contract. NFL is just too fluid now to lock yourself into a position (position being QB position) that both from a financial & competitive standpoint can call the shots if they so desire.
And if Parsons is so highly regarded why did they not have interest from teams wanting to come up to get him? It would be real interesting to know the truth about where the Cowboys thought JOK, Bolton & Cox would go before the draft. If they thought any of them go in the range they did, they could have traded well back in the first and still got them to make up for not getting Parsons.

Trade was good for both teams for now. Let's see how these players perform on the field before judgment is passed.
Trade was good no matter how anyone performs considering we would have taken him at 10 or 12.
