I don't understand why so many people have a problem with Brie Larson. I think she did a great job, and she's fairly hot, but not so hot that it's hard to concentrate on the story.

I think it is more of the feminist narrative that is being pushed heavily in everything. They overly portraying of men as weak and stupid, and overly portraying women as strong and dominating.

I haven't seen this movie and she has superpowers, but if I am remembering the previews right, I got that impression.

I don't have a problem with women in fight scenes, they do well in martial arts type movies. They can learn skills and be competent/deadly too. But there is a limit where a woman beating up a bunch of skilled men in fighting is unrealistic and stupid. But I also like the action movies with men doing unrealisitc stuff.

I just don't like the s ocial j ustice feminism narrative being pushed.

I don't care for the overt "girl power" narratives either, though I didn't vibe any of that from her movie. There was one awful scene in Avengers: Endgame in which she was included, where an all female conglomeration of heroes took center stage in what I feel was a clumsy "girl power" scene, but I can't fault her character for it, especially since I don't think she really needed the others' help anyway.
I love watching Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, and Captain Marvel kick butt, just do it organically, and don't try to put some unspoken label on it.

In what little I saw her (I didn't watch Captain Marvel), she was kind of wooden. That's not how she was in the comics I've seen her in. But mainly my problem with her was her attacks on fans, pulling the same sort of comments as the people responsible for Ghostbusters 2016. Attacking fans rather than address criticisms.

I guess I missed that. Was it on Twitter or something?

I’m actually GLAD to see more films like this, and a more diverse group getting to be heroes and people getting to see people like them being heroes. Bring it on!

I'm happy with the women getting these roles, and I enjoy watching them be heroes. It's just the moments where they seem like they're pandering to women, such as the scene in which they make sure it's an all girl team helping Captain Marvel get the job done. That made me feel somewhat embarrassed for the women in the audience. I've talked to several who didn't like it either, for the same reason.

It was noticeable and forced. I wasn’t a fan either.

It is different than making a woman a hero or a group of heroes and so on, which is good. They are making the woman take on the role and characteristics of the man, and the man the woman

You can see it in all forms of media, it is being taught in schools, and it is in politics. It is blending of the genders.

I could say a lot, but I wont. It is clearly seen in movies and media. DIsney does it a lot

Work and family kept me off-site until now. Post #17 was ignored. Whatever.
