It is not that I am unhappy with the pick. I still believe the Cowboys did pretty well picking in the spots they did, with the exception of Wright. I am more disappointed they didn't move up to get targeted players in the 3rd round, like they did when the traded up to get Biadasz. If Osa Odighizuwa was their target then I am disappointed for other reasons.

The Cowboys have historically done a bad job drafting defense. I wonder if this draft was a continuation of that history. I hope not.

Yeah, other than people who have no idea how to pronounce his name, who wouldn’t be happy?

Already better than Crawford.

Didn’t the Giants draft a player with the same name several years ago? Any relation?

Brothers. There's a good article about it out there. Owa suffered from depression and injuries and is now out of the league. Osa seems to have learned a great deal from his brothers experience

I was not happy with the picks on draft day, but in retrospect I am seeing it in a different light. We have thought that 3-tech as well as linebackers were not major needs for the D, with such glaring needs at the 1-tech, FS and CB. But this team has floundered in mediocrity for so long for overvaluing the players already on their roster, so if the new DC see's the current roster and thinks we can and should try to do better at those spots, then more power to him.

Who knows where these guys would be picked. The draft was all over the place and we had guys picked a few spots ahead of us in the first two rounds. He's a good player that won't get pushed back and unlike some guys last year he won't stop chasing the play until the whistle.

Daniel Jeremiah – “I’m telling ya we might be looking back three or four years from now and realize that Osa was their best pick,” Jeremiah said on the Move the Sticks podcast...“I mean when you look at guys, let’s just add it up right, say you haven’t watched a stitch of tape -- he’s got incredibly long arms, he plays really hard, and he’s got like a state wrestling champ background...just knowing that we’re talking about with his size he’s going to have natural leverage…he’s got long arms so you can’t get to him. And he’s got leverage, and he’s quick, and he knows how to play with balance and power because he’s a wrestler.”

I really like the pick after watching more tape.

As far as our DTs go, I like Gallimore but that’s about it. Hill is a huge question mark and could be cut before the season even begins.

Osa plays with great effort and for his size is great in the run game. He’s excellent at using leverage. He posted excellent statistics and racked up a lot of tackles for a DT. He’s a good guy off the field and an advocate for mental health https://www.nfl.com/news/family-matters-why-osa-odighizuwa-wants-to-advocate-for-mental-health

It wouldn’t shock me if Osa is starting at some point later this year. There’s really nothing to dislike about this pick for me.

When we first took him I was like, he's too light ! To play 3-tech he will have to bulk up. Meh. Now that we took out 1-tech later, I feel much better about this pick.
Isn't it funny, when we love our drafts, they don't seem to work out that well, when we are not sure about it - they tend to be better that we expect. Hope that is the case with this draft...

I don't mind Odighizuwa as a player - he has really good balance and understanding of leverage from being a wrestler, is very active and uses his long arms to keep opposing linemen off of his chest. Where he struggles is that he tends to come off too high off the snap, and forfeits some of the leverage that he can generate from his shorter stature. He also will have a hard time anchoring due to a lack of sand in the caboose. He can definitely be a useful rotational player - I can't say that I saw a potential pass rushing demon from his play, but he won't be a no-show against the run. Where I have the issue is that I think he could have been taken in the fourth, and a guy like Jay Tufele brings more potential as a pass rusher.

If this bulks up a little he will be very strong at the point of attack and has quickness.

You ever read about his already freakish strength? Dude is unbelievable. Bulk him up and the opposition is gonna be coming up with mysterious injuries before game day lol

Why would they trade up though if they can just sit back and get the guy they want?
