he's a Free Agent. I doubt we bring him back, though. We have a lot of bodies on the roster at DL already.

Frankly I had totally forgotten about McCoy, ,,and notice how even media noises don't even mention him anymore.
I'm sure he's a good vet locker room guy, but he's damaged goods and I don't think he's any good now. And we don't need to bring him back.
I heard he'd mentioning being back at Tampa Bay Bucs, I bid him good luck with that.

Does Dallas still have the rights on this guy? It looks like the answer is no.

If he still wants to play, and Tampa Bay wouldn't flip him a fish, does this guy bring anything to the table?

Since so many are still wringing hands about the interior defensive line.
the draft say at this point we no longer need him..

i mean we brought in Urban ,watkins in FA and added Osi and Bohann in to go with rotation of HIll, woods, and Galimore etc im sure we are covered,,

hes most likely one of those players get picked up after week 1 non guaranteed money should a team have a lot of injurys at DT..

No thank you, I doubt he's still the Gerald McCoy we remember. He couldn't make it through TC last year so that should tell you all you need to know. He's been a respectable warrior his whole career but @ 33yrs old he's beyond his respectable shelf-life.

The practice squad is being expanded tp 16 players this year. So space available is not what it is in normal times. So says Bob Sturm.

Nope. He's finished. Too old and too costly.

I think we got him for $3 mil but he couldn't even justify that -- if this wasn't enough, he chose to skip town for Tampa. No gratitude? No thanks!
Agreed, BF. McCoy exposed himself. He can keep skipping to the Bucs or any other team. We don't need "veteran" players from other teams showing up for the money while poisoning our younger players' minds.

Seems like the only guy who still wanted him was Stephen Jones. Evidently, he can't read the writing on the wall . . .

He was credited as a guy who'd be a good influence on the youngsters, then does so by chasing a $ gig with Tampa. o_O

As much (and at times rightfully so) many fans berate Jerry, I'm afraid Stephen is going to make worse decisions.

I hope I'm wrong.

I do, too. I had hopes for him until JJ awarded him more clout but it seems a case of "like father, like son." Just reading the signs.

LOL! A year ago everyone was PUMPED about adding McCoy.

Now even the mere suggestion that we sign him to a cheap, low risk-high/high-reward deal has everyone scoffing at the OP?

We’re still a garbage defense until proven otherwise, people.

I believe this year's draft of rookies are going to immensely help improve our defense...and prove old farts seeking highest pay like McCoy are not needed.

I hope that’s the case too, but what’s the harm in bringing McCoy in on a no-risk deal where he’d have to earn a roster spot to get paid?

How much is an old Gerald McCoy coming off injury commanding in FA anyways?

And what if he were to look almost like prime McCoy in camp and totally outclassed the young guys?

When your defense was as terrible as ours was, why not turn over every stone?

I want to believe in McCoy, but let's be real, the guy is old, has a lot of wear-n-tear and his body is now breaking down. We have plenty of young talent available at the DT spots, and I believe their youth and determination will be more than enough for this team going forward.

FYI, there must be a reason why the Buccs backed out into signing McCoy. Is it because of the same reasons I just stated we should pass up on him? Who knows, but that should cause some pause. If the Cowboys front office decides to speak to McCoy, I believe it will only happen once training camp is underway and if a player or two suddenly get injured. I find it interesting that no one has called McCoy for his services so far.

But on the other hand, wouldn't it just be awesome to add an oft injured DT to our mix of JAGs at the position?
