Everyone thinks we are moving to the 3-4, which is not true. Against the run it will look like a 3-4, but they will be playing a traditional 4-3 most of the time in the nickel
yeah, the impression I got from the Quinn vibes, is that we may likely
start out in the beginning of the game, and be in the 3-4 ...or 3-3-5 in some instances of the game,
but for 60- 70% of the time, we will be in a either a 4-2-5 look, or a 5-2-4 nickel package look.
- I really have my theory that HC McCarthy has and will always want a 3-4 or hybrid look in some capacity or another.
And there's no dodging around it ., .. Quinn's defense is gonna be bringing another
Hybrid version.
- The 3-4 look as well as the newly acquired players (Osa, Bohanna, Watkins, Gholston) is gonna be about run defense, but it will also require DE's Gregory/Dlaw to rush the edge
as OLBs and rare occasions drop back into passing lanes..
-But I expect we'll only see a small semblance of them in drop coverage, as you don't want your two very best pass rushers retrieving the other way most of the game.
but that's the essence of the 3-4, as QBs never know if they are rushing forward or dropping back in the window pass lanes.
- So it will be very interesting to see how the players take to this form of hybrid and nickel from Quinn.....as compared to fired DC Mike Nolan.
Will Quinn's scheme make it simple enough to where players are not frustrated and confuse where there's slower reaction time, missed and blown assignments.
and the defense walling on their heels
