Life is amazingly simple when you can let someone else do all your thinking.. Why watch these guys play when you can just wait until some draft guru tells you whether they're any good or not then parrot what they said authoritatively to make yourself seem smart.
Right. SMH......its so annoying smh....

Yeah, especially that reverse.

Shall it be known. When Jabril Cox is on the field, make sure to run a reverse. Just Jabril Cox being on the field will ensure a.pisitive outcome when running a reverse.

Don't pass because Jabril Cox is on the field.

You should see Micah Parsons weaknesses in his scouting reports, he still went 12th overall.

He's apparently not the most polished LB either when it comes to the playback.

I'm happy with both players, especially where they were both selected and your point of why Cox slipped in the eyes of the NFL is understood.

Good thing development comes into play through capable coaching, scheme and player professionalism.

I think we got a great value pick there with Cox and fantastic depth at the least in certain LB packages.

Has anyone watched the Dallas defense, on misdirection plays? They fall for them every time; NFL players, being fooled, go figure.

I still say he looks more interchangeable with what they want Neal to do, but I suppose we will see.

4th round picks are generally drafted for what they might do in year 2 and beyond.

He could replace Neal in 2022.

Interesting assumption. So here are weaknesses of a player drafted in the 2017 draft:

Weaknesses:
Gunslinger who can be reckless with the football
Has some mechanical issues to fix
Throws too many passes back across the field
Can sail deep balls too far
Will need to learn working under center
Will have to work on footwork with making drops from under center
Will need to learn working a NFL huddle
Will need to improve footwork
Needs development for a pro-style offense
College offense ran lot of plays he won't run in the NFL
Needs to take more check downs
Needs to work on staying in and being comfortable in the pocket

That player was Patrick Mahomes so how about you wait to see what the player does before assigning a label to him.
:hammer:

Despite what the general feeling is about Jaylon, all LBs have been over used and abuse on this defense, playing a behind a bad DL and bad scheme.
I bet Jaylon and LVE both have better season now with some LB help and DL improvement, might be just what they needed.
Agreed. Depth at the LB position and an improved DL will go a long way to improving the overall D.

Sure. Exactly what I meant.

He is being called a LB but looks mote like a large SS to me.

Kind of what Neal is.

This D has a ways to go obviously, but I like the build so far with Gallimore and Diggs last season, and Parsons, Joseph, additions to starting lineup is about what you
would expect in two drafts.
Finding additional starters in this draft is hitting in two back to back drafts, and I can live with that.

Read the thread you lazy POS. Someone posted a link. Just b/c you are old and dumb doesn't give you the right to make others do the work for you.

I see the little boy relies on others to prove what he says. That's what little kids do. If you copied and pasted your original comment then you should know what article they came from and not hide behind what some other user put in their comment. Grow up and act like an adult unless you're really not an adult and in that case does your mommy know you're using her computer.

Weaknesses
  • Plays upright from the second level too often.
  • Doesn't appear to be a very quick processor from inside.
  • Early play quickness limited by excessive thinking.
  • Lacking patience necessary to decipher misdirection.
  • Loses pursuit leverage and occasionally overflows cutback lanes.
  • Needs to become more aggressive taking on blocks.
  • Gets outside shoulder covered more than he should.
  • Inconsistent reading lane choices and blocking scheme.
Basically, he's Jaylon Smith. Slow to diagnose and react....... easily fooled on misdirection....wrong lanes ect. I'm not sure this defense can have 2 LBs like this........

Seriously? You mean after ONE year at LSU (3 at NDSU), he isn't a ready-made All-Pro linebacker with zero holes in his game? What a wasted 4th round pick.

Try to keep up. This is a counter to all those posters who have him penciled in as an upgrade to our current LB crew. There is a reason he's in round 4.

You can negate his weaknesses by not making him play running downs early in his career. He'll probably see the field a lot on obvious passing downs.

-------@atlantacowboy Well, if Cox is the same as Jaylon Smith, then might as well cut Smith and go with Cox. Why pay $9M when you can get the same thing for $670k?

Even if his ceiling is Smith, it is still a step in the right direction saving money on the cap. Assuming Jerry can cut Smith. I don’t think he can. Worst case, no drop off in performance if Smith would get hurt and replaced with Cox.

As Emmitt would say, "zactly" to the opinion above. Herm Edwards for all his terrible coaching did say ONE thing that makes soooo much sense....it was, if I have a Freshman who is of equal talent to a Junior or Senior, the Freshman is playing, because he has more room for improvement.

Everyone has different views
Cowboys LB Jabril Cox named draft's biggest steal

Cox was the 45th-ranked player on PFF’s draft board and has earned coverage grades over 80.0 in each of the past three seasons between North Dakota State and LSU. He saw only 41 targets this past season, but Cox still picked off three passes and broke up four more. He may not play right away, but don’t be surprised when he locks down a starting role in Dallas.”

The coverage skills of Cox are his strong suit entering the NFL. According to PFF, Cox didn’t allow a single touchdown nor was he penalized in 352 coverage snaps in which he defended 41 targets. In 1,114 coverage snaps during his college career, Cox only allowed two touchdowns and recorded eight interceptions which made him falling to the fourth round a bit of a head-scratcher considering how teams need coverage linebackers to defend the pass in today’s NFL. However the Cowboys aren’t complaining.

Cox can also make plays against the run. He uses his speed (ran a 4.52 in the 40-yard dash) and quick change of direction to pursue plays from the backside and in space.

He’ll have to compete for snaps in a loaded linebacker room that features Jaylon Smith, Leighton Vander Esch, Keanu Neal, and fellow rookie Micah Parsons. However, with his array of skills defensive coordinator Dan Quinn shouldn’t have a problem finding a role for him.

https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/2021/05/06/dallas-cowboys-jabril-cox-2021-nfl-draft-biggest-steal/

The linebacker position struggled in 2020 for the Cowboys due to injuries and poor play. With the selection of Cox and the aforementioned Parsons, the Cowboys are hoping that particular unit is a strength in 2021.
